Performance, popularity, etc? If it ever did become really popular I think there would just be so many rules and regulations regarding the technology you can use that it would make it all pretty boring. Keep it unregulated and I think it would be interesting.
Quick example in Ohio "Businesses that received tax credits, loans and grants from the state of Ohio complied with terms of their deals at a record rate last year, the Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s office touted in an annual report of economic development compliance.
Of 341 awards with a performance period ending in 2014, 269 were in compliance based on promised job creation and retention, according to the report, which is required to be submitted to the General Assembly."
It's pretty constant in the news about companies threatening to leave the state and being offered tax breaks or trying to lure companies in by offering tax breaks. It seems more beneficial if all states would agree not to offer special tax breaks, of course everyone would have to agree to it, otherwise a few states could offer breaks and lure all the companies.
I thought the "gun show loophole" was private citizens selling to other private citizens, in most states you can sell a firearm to someone else, of course they want to stop that as well, but something about it being at a gun show makes it a bad thing. If you want to buy from a private party, just go to armslist.com, check the box private party.
Reminds me of a temp job I had, 10 dollars an hour, they were paying the temp service 16 dollars an hour, some people had worked for years as a temp, mostly you just got crappy people who lasted a few weeks and then you had to constantly train new people. This sounds like it could be a similar situation, pay more on paper, but have saving with benefits, both cases probably getting crappy employees.
Prevailing wage based on location is always going to be a tricky thing, kind of like the people who think school loans should only go to certain in demand majors. The more you try and fix broken systems, I think the systems just end up more broken. Many things sound good in theory, but lets say maybe now only companies in places with high costs of living can afford H-1B's now you're favoring some companies. To me it sounds like there should be some pretty easy solutions to stop fraud and waste with food stamps, welfare, disability, income tax, etc, in reality things are no so easy I guess.
Probably the last place, even with what they call the "gun show loophole" you would ever want to make an illegal buy or sale. The slightest whiff you are either a criminal, a narc, or a gov setup, nobody will have anything to do with you, buying or selling. Maybe these people should go to gun shows to sell their drugs, or why not sell guns online if it is so easy to sell drugs? One cow is not the same as another.
I thought of this as well, in a way some of this is not difficult to believe considering the never ending shares of made up crap on Facebook, all of it I can tell right away is an outright lie or missing most of the story. Zuckerberg is giving a thousand dollars to a thousand facebook users, share for a chance to win! Racist judge gives kid 60 years for driving with suspended license! With a little bit of effort you could probably convince people of just about anything.
Seems easier than making a federal law. They do this with the college football team, students were selling their tickets so they made them non transferable / have to show id. They probably know what is going to sell out real quick, they could just have the restriction on those tickets. Other steps I can think of, come up with a way to only allow pre-verified uses to purchase, possibly have a lottery with all the pre-verified users, select a random number and give them 24 hours with the option of buying. It might be seen as more fair and give them a chance to weed out bots. It really can't be that difficult to figure something out.
as for the ticket bots... I don't really care, and a federal law is going a little far... let the companies figure out how to stop it if they really want to. Have you seen the crazy fees ticketmaster charges? I would rather something be done about that if anything.
The directions for a Prius headlight change say to remove the bumper, although you can get away with not removing it. Dealerships used to charge 1000 dollars to change two headlights, now they only charge 500. Of course you can buy two bulbs for 75 instead. Imagine what would happen if you were forced to go to a dealership and pay 10x for every little thing.
This goes for rich or poor. And if all you do is sit around with other rich people and talk about money, sounds like you are pretty boring people. I wouldn't want to hand out with poor people who just complained all day how poor they are either.
How I read it as well. 25k per battery. The rest is probably for install costs. My first thought is spending 30 million to save 1 million a year seems pretty stupid. Who knows maybe they are getting a discount, at the very least they are getting their company name all over the place. My only other thought is maybe once they get all the initial install costs paid for adding more batteries might be easier. I do wish tings like this gave some better numbers, it always ends up being a guessing game, I'd hate to think so many businesses are that bad at math, unless they have other motivations.
I am pretty much in the same boat, I have most of my GEC classes out of the way, but for someone just starting out a quicker option might look more appealing than 1-2 years of general classes.
I thought the non-porn star thing was kind of their niche, well it was the only time I would hear about it, or them offering big money to normal people who just ended up in the news.
I imagine they make more money elsewhere, I would think they would want to keep the nudity, sure you can get porn anywhere, but the magazine could be more for something to sit on the coffee table.
It could be like a 4 year degree but without all the electives and GEC classes. You would still get all the theory and advanced classes.
It could be like a 2 year community college degree, without the electives and GEC classes, the extra classes could be theory or practical.
I don't really see a problem with either, I think colleges should give the option to opt out of GEC's, just call it a technical degree, if you want to take several years of filler, then you earn a bachelor's or associates.
I take it think might not be either, as it says hands on, maybe typical schools need to incorporate hands on more into their curriculum. Or perhaps partner more with employers so ever student has a part time programming job.
It's what some uptight people reported to the FCC...
I watch the show because my SO does, I think it's going downhill faster and faster. The laugh track (or whatever you want to call it) has always been annoying, many of the jokes I can say the punchline before the characters do (usually when they are going up or down the stairs), the characters are so one dimensional you know what is going to happen in any given situation.
We're almost at the point they are all going to be married with rich attractive women, doesn't make for a good comedy about geeks if you ask me.
They went into a little more detail, it sounded like not every kid is tested, so only parents who know about the test to start with have their kids take it. Another thing they mentioned was a recommendation from the teacher, I suppose that would involve the parent getting on the teacher's good side. Then the part of the parents buying study material.
I wish my school offered more than 1 class in BASIC in the late 90's. I wish they offered more electives in many other subjects as well. About the only electives were art and foreign languages. My senior year I took 3 art classes and Latin.
"Childish bullying" might escalate into the criminal, identity theft, defamation of character, swatting, and so on. I have seen someone talk about getting a traffic ticket on a form, then people figuring out who they were, posting pictures from google street view, finding out where they work, etc. just because they could, imagine if you pissed someone off? In general you are probably pretty safe, piss someone off and they might get a kick our of trying to ruin you. Unless you really have to I would not open myself up to that sort of risk.
I see kids do this all the time... manipulate people, they do it to adults and other kids. One kid will start doing something annoying to piss off another, then will act innocent "I was just doing xxxxx" full well knowing it would piss the other one off. You would have to be pretty stupid to being a crappy clock to school, it's not going to impress anyone, so he can claim "it's just a clock", he's either stupid or trolling.
He knew his repackaged clock would get a reaction. Did I tear stuff apart as a kid? Yeah when I was in elementary school. by high school I was tearing apart different broken things to make a working thing... Obviously he was seeking attention.

Move the @*#& inland. What happens ift he sea rises due to natural causes and there is nobody to blame?

People say they "built" their computers, I would say "assemble" would be more appropriate, but we all know what is involved so who really cares.

are left in hot cars? fall into pools? blah blah blah.

I don't eat red meat, just don't like it, so I never seek out "fake meat". Seems silly, if you want meat, eat meat.

I might see it being useful if maybe you do really well in the MOOC and they grant you some credit toward your degree.
