Another great thing about this system that wasn't mentioned is it's got full support for internationalization. Any language you want, it's supported - even ones not invented yet! I'm studying Japanese, and a lot of the techno solutions presented here won't work as well. *sigh* Part of studying Japanese also involves learning to write those weird-looking characters, so you HAVE to practice the writing, anyway. The sooner your start reading and writing it in the native characters, the faster you'll be acquiring your new language.

What, you mean the OTHER Republican-originated plan that the Republicans blocked so that Obama couldn't look good by doing his job? What the hell do you think happened to it? It went the way of other Republican-originated ideas that are now demonized by the Republicans once a Democrat signs onto it, like cap and trade, etc.

Here's a bit of a reality check: With unlimited voice, text, AND data, I am paying $120/mo for something that has 6Gb of data and the same feature set otherwise- it's not an improvement other than you can now share data. If I did that...heh...I'd end up spending more along the lines of what I do now for the 10Gb tier on the USB dongle plus the phone plan- and only have 6Gb of usage as opposed to 12-15 per month.

Is this an older Verizon plan you're grandfathered in on?

  12. Re:make sure you know what's included here... on Verizon Wireless Goes Ahead With 'Bucket' Data Plans · · Score: 1

No, it doesn't include unlimited texting. It does include tethering. However, most people don't pay for tethering, because it's a complete assinine notion that you need to pay extra to have a Wi-Fi capable hardware platform transmit Wi-Fi because the carrier said so.

From the original article: "but include unlimited voice minutes and text"

  13. make sure you know what's included here... on Verizon Wireless Goes Ahead With 'Bucket' Data Plans · · Score: 1

This includes unlimited texts, plus tethering & wireless hotspot, each of which costs extra (unlimited texts is, I know, normally $20/mo by itself). So when you start to compare prices, make sure you're comparing apples to apples.

I'm more interested in when the new individual plans, though. With wifi hotspot, there's no need to have a dedicated plan for anything besides my phone that I'm likely to be using.

I don't think that's true. Mainly because I think you're vastly underestimating the blood-soaked hatred most people here have for the Flash player.

I also think most people here are probably fine with the masses getting their shit updated automatically, as long as those of us who develop for and/or have to support old versions have the option of keeping older versions around when necessary.
