I wish someone would bring out a nice inexpensive black desktop case for home multimedia systems. I know there was a story over the weekend (too lazy to karma whore right now) with a good case, but $250 is too damn much!
A black ATX desktop case, with a quiet power supply , a door to access the DVD/CD-R drives and a window for an IR interface on the front is what I want.
Anybody know where something like this can be found, preferably for less than $75?
Didn't you hear? Rosen, Valenti and company have repeatedly stated that "Fair use is *NOT* a right, but simply a defense for piracy".
Personally, I *LOVE* this whole idea. 99.999% of what the MPAA and RIAA put out via their members is *PURE CRAP*. This will wind up being a boon for small artists in the film and music industry.
"I don't watermark" will become a selling point...
...is an asshole, but he's *OUR* asshole. You can't really hate your asshole, right? The man has done a lot for OSS, but not everything, and not even the majority. He is pushing the "more damage than good" edge.
IIRC, Linux did not name Linux and didn't even want to use that name.
What is really a hoot is RMS talking about Linus's ego!
Has anybody looked much at the Game Park 32? There have been a couple of mentions of it here.
Imagine a cross between the GBA and the iPAQ, kind of. The form factor is large GBA, the screen is bigger (with more colors) than an iPAQ, it uses SMC cards, has a USB port, a cell phone type expansion port for RF networking and stereo speakers.
Ports of Doom, Descent, Wolfenstein, Emulators for GBC, GBA (possible), SMS and SNES are all working or in progress. Since gcc for the GP32 is out, MAME, 2600 and more ports and emulators should be out soon.
I think Bill normally consults the magic 8 ball in situations like this.
I would love to see the choices on Bill's magic 8 ball:
- Yes
- No
- Unclear
- Do whichever is more EVIL
- Giggle and snort manically
- Buy Seattle
Well, you are about 51% right...
Look up Divx. We will expect a written report in the morning.
Since the Xbox has USB, why couldn't a USB TV tuner be added to turn the Xbox into a PVR?
A browser and some other bits ported over would turn the Xbox into a decent set top box.
I always thought microsoft was a fine hardware company...
Hell, yeah! Get all that damn music and movies off the p2p networks so the full bandwidth can be utilized for a more noble purpose:
pr0n!
Copy the (partial) file to another directory, then run divxfix on it. See if it is the file you want and the quality is OK.
Whaddaya think?
Get a rope...
and when everyone uses your software and the alternatives are insignificant, you're basically free to do whatever you want.
Until we write some. Unless that "programming" shit is illegal by way of the CWADTFYOG (Consumers, We Are Doing This For Your Own Good) act by then.
What you need is a PDA with a built-in PCMCIA or CF slot for the phone module of the month.
IIRC, 320x240 is standard VHS quality, so for output to a TV, the picture *SHOULD* be as good as tape.

Although the lock on the chastity belt might make an unsightly bulge
You mean, like the one I have now thinking about chicks in leather pants?
Aren't we on the verge of being able to create circuity using modified printers? They better outlaw that real fast!
Can't have junior printing out an unlicensed ADC!

The PC version of GTA3 hit stores today.
Is it out on KaZaa yet?
Or is it a very clever worm *NAMED* GTA3?
Linux did not name Linux
Linus damnit! Need...more...caffine...

It all depends on what the question is. You may have to constuct a computer the size of a planet to solve that one...
Check again, they got married (while drunk) in Vegas.
You know, I've often wished that they killed me off of TNG
Strangely enough Wil, you aren't alone in that sentiment.
IIRC, there are whole NEWS GROUPS dedicated to the topic.
Van Eck phreaking can even be used to steal cable, if you don't mind a cruddy picture and watching what your neighbor watches.
Cryptonomicon also used the "blinky LED" trick in reverse, sending information in Morse Code via the Num Lock LED, to avoid the Van Eck spying.
Face it, you're just not a drolling fan-boy. Rip up your Kevin Smith fan club membership card and hang your head in shame!
If it is an avi (like a Divx file), that won't work. You have to use an avi corrector program on the file first.

The current list is about $160USB.
Have you taken the 5 seconds to do a google search? They run about $150 and are available from the UK.
