And the prevailing attitude in the last couple of contracts I've had was that everything just works out of the box and requires no engineering or real lab environment. Also an unwillingness to change a deadline because of some promise they made higher up the chain without clearing it with someone technical first.
The image that comes to mind is the Calvin sticker you often see on trucks where he's pissing on the competition, but in this case it's their customers that are getting pissed on.
It hasn't just been the former Sun customers, but their DB customers as well. I've heard many a plan to migrate away from Oracle completely. From what I've seen they aren't salvaging much of what was really good from Sun either. So long to the free sunsolve and the system handbook as we knew ye...
I felt like I was watching a movie about "The Dude" rather than a sequel to TRON.
I also echo the sentiments of some other posters that felt that michael bay may have directed the movie. There really wasn't any depth to the story and that was very disappointing. With TRON there seemed to be a consistency to the digital world that I just didn't feel was there in Legacy.
I wasn't completely disappointed...but I left the theatre feeling only somewhat entertained and lacking any real after taste for the film.
I just finished reading heretics. I've definitely enjoyed the first 5 so far and I can't wait to start the 6th. Just the whole idea of how he sees the relationship between religion, politics, and status quo has been interesting as hell.
This year seems to be the year for me to actually read books I've intended on reading for a long time. Wheel of Time...Dune series...what's next? heh
I agree, the last couple of books have gotten shorter and nothing seems to happen anymore. I read the first one last summer and then read the rest from nov-feb.
We're just simply left hanging with nothing resolved...arrrgh.
Lumping slackware, along with a few other select linux distros, in with redhat, et all, is quite a slap in the face.
People complain about it not being easy enough because it forces you to learn how to really administer a system and here you act like you've never even heard of it.
It's what got me started...and one of the reasons I got a part-time job doing PC support and being a junior Sun admin while I was still in school.
I can envision it now...LUG's all over the country going door to door to preach the Gospel that is Linux...handing out pamphlets...asking to come into your household to "discuss" Linux...to hold your hand and banish the demonseed from Redmond.
Spot on.

There's a few of us that were here long before logins, but didn't sign up for one right away. Never was one of the "First Post" crowd... ;)
I'm going to have to fire up the ][+ tonight and play some of those games again...
...for making my life simpler. I now I have absolutely no incentive for installing instagram!

Even then you wanted to max out your fps at 35 because it did make a difference in deathmatches.
I know it helped alot when I got my P90 and was able to max out the fps.
The one thing I loved about the original DOOM games was the speed. It ruined me for a lot of other games.
Btw, the city isn't run solely on linux. Sun is still there.
The hardware that was replaced however, was quite old as mentioned...and it was not connected to new and faster storage for the most part.
Sun isn't going anywhere, they still have great hardware and solaris still works quite well.
Everything of course has it's advantages and disadvantages and it's also often in how it's tuned, whether it be hardware or software design.

why didn't somebody register this domain before they got it?
Dragonlance is cool...got a ton of books at home...but I've reading that line never clicked before...

sliderr
lack of sleep...nah, I think I'll blame it on Y2K
you all know some version of the saying...
(and in M$'s case...what to throw away...)
I don't know about you, but I still prefer the original deathmatch rules for Doom/DoomII.
I hate going for a weapon and it isn't there.
I find Quake III's gameplay is a bit more similar to doom(faster). Now I just hope they implement the original deathmatch rules.
nuff said :)
here here!
I know what you're talkin about man.
This is a test..report the bug and they'll fix it.
