  8. Re:Can anyone say FBI investigation? on First Man To Mars? · · Score: 1

Oops forgot where I was. I apologize. Maybe it was the Mountain Lightning from Walmart that has gone to my head. Maybe it was three months of unemployment getting to me. What can I say I just became a grandfather at 38. Mid life crisis. Maybe jealousy. Sorry I have been set straight by an Anonymous Coward. My life is complete. I should mark it on my calendar. Oh this is a hacking site only i guess I will keep quiet now...NOT!

  9. Can anyone say FBI investigation? on First Man To Mars? · · Score: -1, Flamebait

Seems like even if the names were changed that they could pretty easily find the people that did this and FIRE them.

    GO FBI!

If there is actually this kind of stuff going on no wonder multi-million dollar spacecraft disappear.

So I wonder who was in charge of the faulty valve that caused the malfunction and whose ashes they were trying to spread across the cosmos?

These are US tax dollars at work. Please find another way to pay homage to people who you find wonderful.

    5. Set on Fire on steps of Alcatel.
    6. Knock or Ring Door Bell.

I am sure whoever answers will be able to translate the code.

Seriously though if it is just an idea, that has not been put on paper and not tested. Then how much is it really worth? I've worked a lot of problems in my head before but once you start developing the idea, you have to fill in a lot of details. So I suppose he has to work for free now to develop the idea. He told them the idea. What sort of solution or how detailed does he have to give them to be in compliance? I can't imagine the courts want to decide that issue. It would seem to me he could tell them anything for the solution and be in compliance with the court. Of course he is stuck with the legal fees. This seems to suck big time!

  11. Careful on Diamonds - Are They Really Worth the Cost? · · Score: 1

You buy her a small diamond and she will be evaluating things you want to purchase for youself. Like all those high tech gadgets. You buy them then they have absolutely no resale value. They are many times made by dirt cheap labor.

Better buy the big one or you will regret.

Lucas has defined what Mega HITS are not just one show wonders. By the way when is Titanic 2 coming out?

  14. Re:Where are the USA robots?..Cessna on Sony's New Bi-Pedal Robot · · Score: 1

Actually Cessna started making planes again several years ago after the laws changed limiting the liablity of older planes. They have now cut but production only because of the economy. When the economy booms again then they will make planes again.

  15. Re:This is so cool! on Sony's New Bi-Pedal Robot · · Score: 1

Actully in five years it will be like the IBM commercial where all the servers are gone.

You walk in and there are a group of robots sitting at a table playing cards. You say, "What happened to all the servers?" One of the robots says, "We are the servers! Now close the door your letting all the cold air out. ..... and speaking of out. I fold, cause I have to compute payroll right now."

  16. Advertising on the Web on Announcing Slashdot Subscriptions · · Score: 1

It is free and advertiser supported or you pay for it, that's life sometimes you do both. Bought any shoes or shirts lately? You pay to advertise and we like it!

    .begin rant

How do advertisers associate click thrus with whether or not an ad works or not. Its not like you see people running to the convenience store when they see a pepsi truck. (Okay maybe when some of you see a beer truck.)

I mean is there no reasearch on the subliminal effects of advertising when you are seeing it plastered in front of your eyes all day long? The stupid thing is when the banner does not show the logo or slogan. Then the person viewing the ad will never associate it what the ad is for. Just ask Nike and Tommy Hilfiger how important branding is.

Advertiser will start paying big for sights like slashdot when they realize that not being there means not being seen by ME and others like ME.

  22. I am sure they said this about phones at one time on Does Peer-to-Peer Suck? · · Score: 1

Why would anyone want to dial directly to another house when you can just pick up the phone and have the operator do it for you. Or better yet send them a letter by the postal service. Oh yeah! I want centralized authority in everything I do especially to send photos (videos) of my kids to grandma. Most computers now being purchased now have enough capacity to store all your personnel information, including all of your photo albums, financial information, music preferences, operating manuals, house plans, letters, medical information, several encyclopedias worth of information. EVEN THOUGH it is not necessarily EASY to do this now it is coming. I don't want microsoft storing this stuff, I don't want AOL storing this stuff and I want full control of dissiminating this information. In a few years you will be able to store the kids birthday and christmas videos on the desktop. Peer to Peer is coming soon to a home near you.

Laws from state to state vary significantly. Taxes, licensing methods, vehicle regestration, schooling. Technology might help bring some of them together but there is an underlying problem in the fact that so many little laws are different state to state, city to city. Voting differences are just a drop in the bucket. Besides we currently have the IRS that can't get things right so why would a national voting computer system work?
