Actually, I tried to force my landlord to allow me to install a sattelite dish. While the law says that technically they must allow it, they can make up all kinds of ridiculous rules that pretty much nullify the law. For example, my landlord said that I could install a sattelite dish, but I couldn't drill holes in the roof, as that could damage the house. No sattelite installer would install a sattelite dish without drilling holes in the roof, so I was stuck, unless I wanted to install it myself and try to jury rig something without drilling holes in the roof.

The law only pertains to land or a house you own. If you're renting, then all bets are off.

Sorry NBC... I'm too far away from your transmission tower. My suburban HOA won't allow for an antenna that can tune in your signal well enough.

    They can't do that:

The rule (47 C.F.R. Section 1.4000) has been in effect since October 1996, and it prohibits restrictions that impair the installation, maintenance or use of antennas used to receive video programming. The rule applies to video antennas including direct-to-home satellite dishes that are less than one meter (39.37") in diameter (or of any size in Alaska), TV antennas, and wireless cable antennas. The rule prohibits most restrictions that: (1) unreasonably delay or prevent installation, maintenance or use; (2) unreasonably increase the cost of installation, maintenance or use; or (3) preclude reception of an acceptable quality signal.

I realize that, but between a job, a long commute, a suburban house near roads where people drive at approximately Mach 2, and 2 young children I find 60-90 minutes of strength training per week far easier to shoehorn into my schedule than taking a long walk every day - especially since I would need to drive somewhere to walk safely.

That's why I've got a treadmill. On it I've added a board across the arms for a desk and placed a monitor in front of it. I've found I can walk around 2.6-2.7 miles per hour on it and still be useful on the computer. It helps me get some walking in when I would be sitting on the couch for an hour or two working on the computer. Here are some crappy pictures of my setup, picture 1 and picture 2. I've actually switched to a 15" LCD monitor in place of the Xbox 360/Macbook combo. The screen was too far back with the macbook. On the desk surface I just have a keyboard and trackball.

I always use a Star Trek analogy with Harry Potter. It seems like it's all magic, but I'm always reminded of Arthur C. Clark's quote Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. The "Room of Requirement"? It's really a Holodeck. Disapperating? It's just a fast teleporter. The wands? A portable replicator (that one's a stretch). There is all sorts of technobabble, especially in Potions...

Anyway, I'm very impressed how well J.K. Rowling was able to tie almost everything together. This was probably the best of the series, but I'll need to go back and re-read them all!

Similarly, the authors also do not mention that the book is, for the most part, only applicable to Drupal version 5, and not version 4 or earlier versions, since there have been some dramatic changes with the release of version 5. In fact, given the extent of the changes and how that would impact the utility of the book depending upon what version of Drupal the reader is using, it should be noted on the book's cover, as an increasing number of publishers are doing.

Pretty much everyone I know has a story about barely scraping by and eating Ramen noodles for weeks/months on end. People who take an entry level job out of high school are making a decent wage that those in college miss out on. Multiply that 20-30k by four and the average college student is already in the hole 80-120k, add on student loans for tuition plus all the hard work spent studying. So I don't think it's unreasonable for college graduates to expect a decent wage.

I think the sense of entitlement comes from the fact that the current generation believes they are the first to suffer these hardships of eating Ramen noodles and taking an entry level job out of high school. I did those exact same things, and it took 7 years out of college before I got a job that paid decently.

It's not unreasonable for a college graduate to expect a decent wage, but in Ohio, a decent wage is 30-35k...
