After checking out the SAP-DB website... now Im wondering just why more people aren't using it? Looks like it has a good feature set. Does anyone know if there are php functions for it? A quick scan of the php web site didn't turn up anything...
Im not trying to troll or draw flames but by the letter of the law - trading copy-writed music is illegal. I'de rather have the music swapping services shut down then have the record companies try more wide-spread cd protection that would further limit legitimate fair use. Im not saying I agree with the way the system works now... but Im not going to cry when I can't use music-swappers illegally anymore.
It doesn't really matter if you read it... you're still responsible for having read it and will be dealt with as such. Read it. Don't read it. Users will still be accountable for what it says. The revision is nice to see and shows that at least some people are paying attention.
Good idea. I think Im going to forward this stuff on to our local news outlets in and around Philadelphia. I fly out of Phillly International on business occasionally. The way things run it's bad enough.. this could be a disaster:-(
Ok, I just read the memo to the FAA administrator regarding the state of the situation. The next site to get the new system is Philadelphia which is where I live. This is now an escallated issue for me and local news outlets are going to hear about it. Oh boy, here we go...:-)
I would guess that having the techs get in the way would be a federal time to which real prison time, if not certainly a pain in the ass would be attached. I think it's time to write the congress persons in your areas.
Obviously we don't know what exactly happend in Syracuse but Im sure pressure was brought to bear. If the FAA invoked it's emergency powers then Im sure the techs couldn't do anything about it. Throwing their wooden shoes into the machinery would probably constitute a federal crime, however, so Im sure the techs weren't too keen on going to jail. It's scary, however, that the FAA would invoked it's emergency powers during something other than an emergency just to force something out the door. This is horse shit. The techs have to certify systems for a reason. Over riding them defeats the purpose of having them there in the first place!
I hate to suggest getting the courts involved because things seem to get bogged down there. Can the technicians - or better yet the public sue to block the FAA from using the new system? According to the article the FAA invoked their "emergency powers" to force the new system in place in Syracuse against the inspectors and certifiers' recomendations. This sounds like a horrible mess waiting to happen. Besides, if we grant the FAA emergency power - they might get crazy and build a death star! Ok, all kidding aside - I wonder if the public can sue to block the use of the new system until it actually passes tests and inspections. Anyone? Is this possible?????
This is going to play out like other version 1 micrsoft products. Ok, this version aint blowing people away... or at least isn't selling as well as MS thinks it should. However, the gaming industry is worth $8 billion. Microsoft wants a chunk of that. They already invested a ton of money into getting it. Don't worry... the next XBox version will be better somehow... design, speed, size, etc. They won't quit now. It took awhile for WinCE to catch on but now we're on version 3 or 4 and it's starting to really heat up.
Yikes! Hadn't thought of that. In your case I'de be more apt not to pay as well. The agregate of having to pay all of a sudden on 6 different accounts would definitely hurt!
I am an all-day user of pop forwarding for my Yahoo account. To be quite honest - I get 0 spam to it as well. I only use it for personal communications and never for buying goods at stores - I let hotmail get all my spam. Anyway, with the belts getting tightened the world over I really don't mind ponying up $19 for a year's worth of spam-free email. I don't think that's alot to ask. I'll be signing up today.
Since my old company was spread out over the whole country, we used to name our severs by state, then by os, then simple incrementing digits. For example, a unix box in New York would be:
NYUnix04
Or an NT box in Jersey would be:
NJNT43
That was you get alot of info out of just the name. Hope that helps...
I don't think it will really make people throw them away. The whole point of the fee is to facilitate the recycling - which is done outside the normal consumer's hands anyway. As far as the fee goes - I don't think most people will even know they're paying it. We need something other than dumping our machines in Asia for "recycling" there. Just my $0.02
Check out ACME at Perdue University. It was setup by a couple grad students on the cheap and really is a model of inexpensive high-performance computing. I think they only spent a coupe grand on the whole thing with help from the school scrap yard. Some good lessons in there. Oh, and they run FreeBSD which, as it's name suggestes is FREE!!
Check out this (http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20011220.html) article by Bob Cringely from a few months back. He talks about these smart cameras from a new company. They have their own processors built in and can do some really nifty things. I don't know about cost or if you could just get the cameras and connect it to an off-the-shelf computer but it sounds like a great way to go!! Hope that helps.

Does this mean I need to buy another key to get Quicktime 6 to work even if I already bought one for 5?

Maybe it's because '18' sounds just like 'Play' and people were a little disapointed?
What happens if you release your mod under a specific alternative license? Which one overrides? Would make an interesting case :-)

Isn't this like the 3rd time this was posted? Not trying to poo poo... just wondering.

I think this was more an issue with Blizzard's parent company. I don't think if, given the choice, Blizzard would have shut down bnetd.
Well I can't disagree with the torturing the spammers! Outlawed altogether I say.

Installs in a snap, free download, stupendous interface, good support. I've used it for months now without a hickup. Just my $0.02

Cool beans, thanks for the clarification!! Mind you, I still plan to pony up for my subscription - just wanted to know if we could still pull feeds :-)
Cheers! - JP
How does this affect the xml feed they have? Can I still grab slash.xml from the root directory for free???
Most sites require media player 7 these days.
