I'm no lawyer to discuss amendments. All a have to do is agree, and try to learn more with whatever you've said.
But I can say that nobody owns the truth. Probably Stallman isn't right, neither do I, and neither do you! I only said, and keep saying that I agree with him (lucky yours, you don't).
But I prefer to listen tbone1 right after you. All I've seen until today about government matches with his opinion. Try to read that, it sounds pretty realistic to me.
I'm very proud to notify you that here in Brazil we are also using internet, not only for teleconference, but also to telepresence. Including medical telepresence, experiences with surgical telepresence, and also multimedia transmition. All with colaboration with Brazilian and foreing colleges and universities(including american ones)
It's very nice to see Brazilian technologies walking side by side with the world.
Have anyone said that space-stations are funny? We know from Mir that it's extremly boring and lonely up there. Of course it's very exciting when they arrive, and are received with hugs and congrats. But a week later... that's very different. Astronauts and Cosmonauts have huge problems with depression up there!
So, space-station 'sucks', even more if it's a under-construction space-station... Gee, lot's of brick-lawyer things to do... damit, I wouldn't like to spend a month in a space-station (not now a days), I can't even imagine working in a under-construction space station (it give me creeps).
A full-height 5 1/4 one, like the old IBM PC ones, but with superdense and 10000RPM spinning platters.
Watch out! Bigger drives, at bigger RPM values, means much higher linear speed near the disk border. Don't forget we have momentum and inertial forces involved. That might be the problem!
I don't know if I am being too simplist. But for me, the solution is bigger storage devices, if we can't put more bits on a surface, and we need to store more bits, let's build a bigger surface.
Let's remember a very recent chapter here in slashdot. Does anybody remembers what is happening with KIllustrator? This is even worse, if you do a strcmp KIllustrator is not equal Illustrator, but strcmp("MySQL", "MySQL) returns 0!
I think that MySQL AB should do just like Adobe. Sues this dam company that its name. We don't live in a perferct world, I'd like if Adobe hasn't sued KIllustrator, and then MySQL AB wouldn't need to sue NuSphere. But, that's the rules, and I think that MySQL should play according the rules.
What can I do? Just be sorry for all this tiny fights!
I don't know about prices in US. But here in Brazil, G4/TheCube price was prohibited. A wonderfull machine, with a amazing price.
Taiwan importings made PC prices fall down since 1992, and then apple became here no more than a expensive-but-graphically-good computer-house, just like other computer-houses, we call them here griff-machines.
Since i-Mac and brand-new-Dell-factory in south-brazil, the so called grif-machines became accessible to home consumer. But G4/TheCube was too expensive, as I said before prohibited.
I'm sorry about discontinuation, PC are getting more and more beautiful due to Apple's new design. Hope new inovatives designs shows up soon.
Paid-software pirating I can understand. It may be expensive, and not that good. But free-software pirating is horrible!
There are bunches of people working for free, trying to make a better world for everybody. And then a small group of SOB ignores this whole wonderful thing!
Why don't they abandon comunist right now? Aren't they the so called best society? Aren't comunism and socialism made to bring rights equality to all? Why are they acting like this?
GPL do not want to make money, as said Stallmann, enough just for living, and living cheap. And now, a small group from a comunist country violates GPL? I'm stopping trying to understand humans.
I know we don't know yet what license is being violated. I used GPL just as the most representing license.
Here we go again. Needless to say a word about open source features. I just can't believe that M$ can keep doing this! Can't FSF sue M$ for difamation?
Did anyone noticed the note about Potencially Viral?. Let me tell you something, for me Potencially viral is build a word processor with macro support that nobody need, and put a functions called CopyMacro, that copies a macro from a.doc to another. YES, my friends, that's how Macro virus works!
If the fact of ignoring OpenSource/FreeSoftware benefits isn't, they are lying and difamating. I can't believe that nobody can't do anything.
And about antitrust, all I have to say is: Money rules the world. M$ won once, and will win again, and again, and again, until it has no more money. Then another company, with more money will win. That's all I can say after DMCA (MPAA vs 2600) and M$-antitrust cases.
Sorry guys, but I think that we don't have the money....
Software monopoly has these kind of details. If there's a world without M$Word, who would use expensive-and-full-featured-M$Word?
Please, throw the first reply who really need M$Word macros (Virus makers, please, stay out). This is a feature that costs money, I think that if there weren't macros in M$Word it should be sheaper.
The point here is, my company buys M$Word because the others companies also uses M$Word, and many other companies does just like us. It's like VHS vs Betamax, but today Betamax is winning, and anyone who wants to have full support to M$Word have to pay.
What can we do about this? At home I don't have M$Word, but my office's docs must be converted first before I use it at home (this sux!).
Japanese people can do something. There they don't need to use M$Word, they can choose to do so. That's wonderful, I'd like to choose to use Netscape at linux, but unfortunatly, I must use netscape/mozilla, because there's no other market-supported-good-enough browser.
What the heck is happening here? I can't believe that Adobe, such a fucking-good software-house, that doesn't need to do this small things (RIAA, MPAA and M$ need these small things) are trying to fight KIllustrator.
Let's see, AutoCAD, how many *CAD is around? What about *Player. Let's do just like Pegeout, let's register all numbers with a middle 0. This sUx, it sounds like a dam-shit-small-software-tiny-company that can't make their software so dam good that it'll become market default!
Well I hope that Adobe give up to sue for such a small thing like this!
Hey, have you ever contributed to FreeSoftware/OpenSource comunity? If you have, great, I think you know what to do!
If you haven't, that's great too. It's a wonderful way to start. You probably use slack at home, so, I think that if you know a way to implement SVr4-style-init-script everybody in comunity will be very happy, and so you will to.
And if you don't know how to implement it, it's a wonderful opportunity to learn how to do it. I don't know, and if I have some free time, I promisse I'll learn.
So, good luck. (no offense, pal. Just a friendly chat:O)
Does anybody remembers when exactly it all has started? The first game I remember is Wofenstein 3d, and is worse than Doom, but not that much. IMHO Doom is a better milestone than Quake.
If my memory isn't core-dumping, I remember that Doom had an improved 3d engine and better camera move as you walk. Oh, and had also 3d scenarios (although it has only 2d maps).
Can anybody help us to find where all this started?
Hey, man! I'm sorry to speak with you this way, but. WAKE UP, MAN!
Didn't you realize that probably M$ will auto update this dam funcionality?
I can speak even more. Do you think that M$ will put a HUGE database with all it's SmartTags links in ALL XP-box? I don't think they will lose the oportunity to charge for SmartTags links, and to this by the M$ way, it's better to put the whole database spreaded in servers around the world rather than put this in the client! (If an annoucer doesn't pay, it is out!)
Anyway, we don't even know if M$ will charge for this, and what kinds of site it'll be put into the database. The point is: "WAKE UP, MAN!" (and try not to be a coward next time)
Don't worry, I'm angry with him just [to|every]day
Let them implement this stupid SmartTags. I wonder how long will take until this becomes a security hole. It'll be very, very, very funny.
Imagine one of these bot-catcher pages, with thousands of keywords. You open the page with your IE-XP-like-browser, and maybe next week you'll be able to view the super-show of SmartTags-link in you super 201" monitor.
And how much will cost to put a dumb site at SmartTags? If it'll be paid, i think it'll be very very expensive, and only huuuuge companies will be able to be added (RIAA might love it!). And if it'll be free (free as air) there will be so much entries that it'll be impossible to use.
Anyway, SmartTags sUx, M$ did not think about this before implement! Where are the dam developers???
I don't have anything to hide, I don't care to let a commercial system know all my habits. I'll care if there's someone spying on my preferences.
The point here is privacy. I don't know about others, but if it's for the best (like personalized ads, or personal security) I don't care to let systems and people know what I like to do.
To keep privacy we need warranties that it won't be used to others things (like spam) or seen by anybody.
To tell the truth, there already exists things like this. Everybody watches local ads in TV, the difference is that they don't track what you watch. (I like local ads)
I really hope that trackers have at least a minimum of ethics, and use this in a way that doesn't harm nobody privacy.
I missed your point! Could you please explain this better?
Don't you see?I told you! I'm from the future! And the Twelve Monkeys Army are out there. Why don't you hear me?!?
They gonna kill us all. There's no where to hide, they are coming!
--------
Or would it be Gilgamesh II instead of Twelve Monkeys?
Don't worry. I'm too excited [to|every]day
Ok, it's time to star-confederation contact us.
Don't worry, it'll hurt as much as an amputation

P.S.: I wish I could give tbone1 score 5
As Richard Stallman said before:
He was talking about DMCA and the new Free Software laws in other countries.
So, if there's nothing like DMCA in your country, fight for your rights, don't let them cut back your rights!
Don't worry, I'm too busy [to|every]day

That's it!
If you buy a book, and learn something from it, you can't talk about what you learn with anybody!
WONDERFUL!!! Why don't you GPL it? I mean... it can be useful if it's not for OfficeXP! ;o)
