IIRC, it was mostly a geography game, and we played it when we were in 4-5th grade. Getting 4th and 5th graders to know the locations of various countries, cities, and landmarks on a map is all they were striving for, and that they succeeded at that goal is quite an accomplishment in itself.
I remember playing it in 9th grade...in French. That just added a whole new level of difficulty to the game.
When someone like yourselves accept a job stomping on baby ducks all day, do you invest in new boots, or do you just come to work in whatever old shoes you have in your closet?
Considering this is Linux, shouldn't that be baby penguins?
The term in English for "cosmic speed" is, I believe, "escape velocity" - the speed required to escape from the Earth's gravity and go off into the cosmos, I suppose.
There is an escape velocity for Earth, but there's also an escape velocity for the Sun. If you reach the escape velocity for Earth but don't reach the one for the Sun...I hope you brought lots of marshmallows because you're going to have one hell of a campfire.
If you want it in digital or high def, you have to subscribe to carrier that has the digital signal. For me, that's Starchoice, and the only channel that *isn't* digital is PBS. The CRTC mandate was for it to be available digitally, not for it to no longer be available in analogue.
Here's where your comment is confusing. This article is talking about free over the air broadcasts, not paid satellite broadcasts. The last I heard, the only place in Canada you can pick up an over the air digital signal is Toronto. Maybe there are others in Montreal and Vancouver, but certainly not every station in the country.
Where I live that is indeed not copyright infringement, provided they are stored on media on which levy has been payed.
Assuming you're in Canada, the first part is true but the second part is not. There's no requirement that the media have a levy paid on it. The section that deals with the levy and the section that deals with copying are seperate.
So yes, you can copy your CDs (or your friends' CDs) to your hard drive even though there's no levy paid on hard drives.
The article isn't about spam. It's a study of the effects of e-mail-based affirmations. It doesn't take a bunch of goofball researchers to demonstrate that daily affirmations are influential, but what does that have to do with spam? Nothing.

My '73 Karmann Ghia runs me about $65 a month for full coverage, well beyond the legal minimum. I'm a 24 year old female. It was about $75 a month when I started driving.
I think I may have found a key difference. Being female is like an automatic 50% off sale for young drivers.
This isn't a joke. Seriously, I read somewhere (cant remember) that since lake ontario water is quite cold once you go a few feet under water, the city of toronto was/is thinking of sucking this water to cool office buildings by a couple of degrees, so the air-conditioner has to work less
I believe the story actually appeared on slashdot. It was quite a bit more than a few feet though, they're piping from near the bottom of the lake where the water is just above the freezing point.
What's the point in subsidizing orange growth in Florida, if Brazil has perfect soil and climate for growing oranges, while Florida is only marginally adequate for oranges? Why does Europe grow sugar beets if sugar cane produces sugar at much lower costs?
What happens if the few nations that grow sugar cane decide to cut off the supply to certain countries?
First you get the sugar, then you get the power, then you get the women.
In Canada it's not called "Canadian bacon", it's just called "bacon".
Uh, no. Canadian bacon is called back bacon in Canada. Bacon by itself is the same as what Americans call bacon.
Pay attention Gir!

Just as you would never pay to see those movies, they would never let you see those movies for free. I believe that's fair enough.
If they'd stop extending the length of copyright, you could wait long enough and those movies would become part of the public domain.
interesting stats there. [ 144 thousand times * holland = canada ]. hello dont believe this.
It's more like 240 * Holland = Canada.
I know you don't sit in your yard guarding your trash all day.
Maybe you don't.
El Al??
Israeli airline.
Counter-headline: "PENGUIN GETS RABIES, INFECTS FIREFOX."
Penguins, being birds, can't get infected with rabies.

Leo simply moved to Toronto.
No he didn't. He flys up to Toronto and films a bunch of episodes all at once. Then he flys back home.
I believe he's in Toronto for about 1 week per month.

Or check out Sledge Hockey. You don't need to be wheelchair-bound, but those who are probably have an upper body strength advantage.
There's also Wheelchair Curling. Of course, that's played on a different type of ice rink than hockey.
there is handicap parking places in front of a skating rink
And just where should the handicapped park if they want to go skating?

My parents' generation did it with newspapers - even if they had to lock themselves in the toilet to do so.
Get a wifi enabled Palm or PocketPC and lock yourself in the toilet with it. The best of both worlds!
A quote is also a noun mister smart guy.
Not to those who can't comprehend shortening the word quotation to the word quote.
Pretexting is what private investigators call it. Other groups would be more likely to call it social engineering or conning (as in con man).

You did know that cops aren't legally allowed to break the speed limit when they aren't responding to a call or enforcing the law, right?
Who's going to pull them over?

the ftp protocol is alive and well.
For now at least. Just wait.

In all that time you never learned to say "the my computer icon on your computer's desktop"?
Then you'd have to explain what an icon is and what the desktop is.
