  1. Pardonez-moi on The Risks of Entering Programming Contests · · Score: 5, Insightful

But aren't these risks, for the most part, kind of obvious? It's sort of like saying your employer might exploit you for free labor from your unpaid internship. Duh!

  2. Re:I'm Confused... on 'Bloatware' Becoming a Problem On Android Phones · · Score: 5, Funny

Of course it's "open," you just have to jailbreak it first!

  3. Shovelware on 'Bloatware' Becoming a Problem On Android Phones · · Score: 4, Informative

I always thought pre-installed crap was called "shovelware." As in, it's shoveled on there not for functionality's sake, but so some programmer can get a bonus.

  4. Re:They stole the idea from me on Cow Clicker Boils Down Facebook Games · · Score: 1

You're making this too complicated! Hell, I don't care if you win or lose Click the President, I don't even care if anyone plays it. It's entirely up to the player to decide whether the result is meaningful.

Flamethrowers, huh? Wouldn't it be easier just to use a Bic?

  6. Oakland needs to mellow out on Industrial Marijuana Farming Approved In Oakland · · Score: 4, Funny

With all the violence and protests in Oakland, a lot of pot is needed to help everyone just mellow out, man.

Now who's coming to the Phish concert with me?

  7. They stole the idea from me on Cow Clicker Boils Down Facebook Games · · Score: 1

I totally invented this "game" concept back in 1998 with Click the President. (Obviously, it's been updated twice since then.)

Now, who do I sue over this...

  8. Re:False on Nexus One a Failed Experiment In Online Sales · · Score: 4, Informative

But wireless contracts tend to be the same price whether you're paying off a loan or not; in other words, you're just wasting a lot of money if you didn't get a phone+contract from your carrier.

  9. Lack of promotion? on Nexus One a Failed Experiment In Online Sales · · Score: 5, Insightful

I never saw the Nexus One promoted, nor a link to the store anywhere (except perhaps on Slashdot.) Google has used their pageviews to promote other products and services, for example their ads for Chrome.

Could it be the reason Nexus One didn't succeed was simply a lack of promotion?

  10. Re:un-American on The Rise of Small Nuclear Plants · · Score: 3, Funny

Yes. That's why in my bathroom you have to climb up a ladder to get to the toilet seat, then hang on for dear life for fear of falling into the swimming-pool sized bowl.

It also has a bidet function, which isn't wimpy and French; it's got a firehose pump powered by a small nuclear plant.

So we're not allowed to ask questions that relate to the topic? See, if that were the case, then there were a LOT of off topic posts about Java when Oracle bought Sun. Yet they were NOT modded that way.

I'm just not following your logic here.

So that isn't it. Any other ideas?

  21. Basement on When On the Moon and Mars, Move Underground · · Score: -1, Troll

While living in your mother's basement may be a good strategy for your average Slashdotter, it's not the best idea for humans over a very long period of time.
