Not only do most AOL users not see that there is an internet outside of AOL, they have no incentive to go look. You want chat roots? AOL has them. Discussion forums? They have them too... AOL's communities cover everything from astronomy to zoology.
All within the disney-like atmosphere of AOL's moderation. They actually use this as a marketing point: "The internet, sanitized for your protection."
After finding out I got ripped off by one of those digital descrambler filters, I was messing around with different combos on my motorola box and brought up a setup menu. I made several changes, and the unit stopped working. The next day, Comcast called and asked what had happened to the unit.
SQL Server 2000 allows you to set the level of authentication to Windows Only (uses the Windows Domain security) or Mixed Mode. You have to specify a password for the sa account. You can have a blank password, but this requires an extra check box that says having a blank password is not recommended.
"To make a rebel imperceptible, the Nebuchadnezzar's computer changes the body's visible appearance to be transparent; and the body's mechanical resistance to that of the air. From an observer's perspective, the body has melted into air. From a software perspective, the data module is still on the register but simulating a body indistinguishable from thin air. Later, when the scene is no longer being observed by anybody, the module will be deleted. "
Wouldn't this mean that Trinity should have died when the truck smashed into the phone booth, as her avatar was still there, just not percievable?
I would say that telling someone that you have noticed them doing something wrong is bad social engineering. They'll be likely to question you, or the accusations, if they think they could get in trouble for it.
Why does it matter whether it was some principle or some cost cutting measure? I would think they would fight more to save some money than to uphold some code of ethics.
You are also missing the newest technology to hit the DJ market: Final Scratch. Info.
It plays like a dream, and I have never had any problems with it. I can scratch, back cue, and do anything i can do with vinyl. You still a record to record the inital song at a high bitrate, but other than that, vinyl won't be as big in the DJ world for much longer once everyone gets these.
But because the same big company is trying to control all the stations it can, and because there is a finite amount of stations in an area, you are forced to listen to something. There isn't the choice to listen to a techno station, or a punk station, or anything that isn't mainstream. That is the problem with the system, not that people don't like something others do.
Yes, but the local government is footing the bill, meaning it can recoup losses from other funds. In this case, they are doing this to attract new businesses to the area, which (in their minds) will create more than enough revenue to cover costs.
When you buy new machines from the big vendors (Dell, HP, Compaq, Gateway), they are imaged with all the software and associated files installed, but start up for the first time and go into the end of Windows setup, where the user enters their license key, personal info, and accepts the EULA.

In addition to what has been said about open standards and all, Microsoft is also fighting in court with everything it has to prove that IE is an essential part of Windows. The fate of IE then, is the fate of a part of Windows.
... or after their "upgrade" from BSD to 2000, the recycle bin!
I guess he was using that old "If OSes were an airplane" joke as reference for his talk...
