+1 here. Also - fast. It's funny actually - the worst HDD and the best HDD I've seen been Samsung drives - the worst, an ancient 1G+smth drive (stuttering, noise, bleh..), the best (of "consumer-grade" drives) is the recent 250G drive I've bought for relatives - fast, silent, reaching about 35C max without any cooling (7200RPM).
What the next gen means? Easy - more/much_more expensive to produce games = more "suit" decisions, less variety, fewer titles, more "cool" factor, less fun factor. Same shit basically as happened with PC gaming (if you remember early-mid 90's and today).
I salute you! Actually, it's a good idea - since editors don't do their job we should rebel and post our own discussion topics to whatever crap the "top story" is. I guess we should invent some comment header markup, like "*TOPIC* A new digital imaging chip" or something like that. Of course there are asshole mods who would mod such posts as offtopic... Oh, well.
Actually, _this_ is one of OSS advantages. On Windows and Apple you need help and manuals. On Linux you can check other people's source to see how they are doing stuff. On Windows you cannot check notepad.exe source to see how to write a simple Windows program so you _need_ artifical samples and help files.
You think? CPUz says my new Sempron is in fact... AthlonFX! (Must be an old version. It was kinda funny though).

Japanese smoke like crazy and still they have one the longest (if not _the_ longest) life expectancies in the world. I _guess_ that the trick is not only moderation but not being crazy and nervous about causing harm to your health, yadda, yadda... I am sure that anti-tobacco FUD hysteria caused more harm and health problems for smokers and maybe even non-smokers than all the cigarettes combined. Same about coffee, for example. Or gaming. Etc.
As others said - no monitor and no peripherals (and I'd say that since it's a gaming machine then it would be reasonable to include a joystick and a wheel. But then I play lots of sims, others may skip it).
Also - 512MB of RAM is too low for gaming these days (especially when compared against selected CPU+Video).
Add all of the above and we are at $1000. As expected.
Oh, and software costs are not included! This means we _need_ to upgrade DVD-ROM to a burner, right?
As someone said: "America is a strange country, you cannot have a breast shown on TV there unless it has been cut off". (Sorry, it's a re-translation).
Bingo! You mention "Stephen King" and "death" in a single sentence without being a troll!!! (Ahh, I guess I'm too old to remember that. Maybe we need to revive that? On second thought, maybe not...)
They say that no news is good news but I say that news site reporting no-news is bad news.
In her ears of course! :-)

What does Britannica say about "Goatse"?

Q: What advantages consoles _had_ over PC?
A: Being inexpensive and being identical.

Hey! Girls read /. too, you know? Or they don't?
Pakistan has roughly the same population as Japan. I've never seen a Pakistan-made car, or TV-set, or camera...

You missed "fully-featured" part.
Growl-metal and lyrics research does not mix well.
Yeah, this on a site eych-tee-tee-pea-colon-slash-slash-slash-dot-dot-o rg, right.

Well, the source and the Internet of course.
R&D here stands for "Rape and Destroy"?
Have they legalized the geek marriages yet?! Perverts!

Well, Suns are quite well-known for their decent uptimes!

What? When coding Lisp _without_ "real computer around"? :)

Also, researchers found that being a geek drastically reduces your chances of getting HIV virus (and many other STD virii).
