Stop the fuck modding this shit "Insightful". I guess I've read this sentence almost verbatim at least 100 times here on slashdot (and I tend to browse at +4 or +5).
Some reasons: 1) Unlike VHS/beta these media is not only used for movies. Far from it. I guess most BR discs for PS3 would be games. And I guess at least half of my discs at home are not video (and most of the others are filled with *.avi but I digress). 2) VHS was more practical. Really. 3) Sony are nuts about their proprietary formats. 4) Most of the people do _not_ purchase porno. If you're past-teen single loser that does not mean you are typical. In fact we are minority (and even then _I_ do not purchase porno).
Well - really - I was a bit young to remember when beta had a chance and may not know all the details but claiming that new universal media format would be decided by _porno_industry_ is a bit silly, no?
I guess it's because this affects how you gonna pronounce it. "Damacy" provokes English reading (deh-meh-see or something, close to "damage" in other words), "damashii" provokes Romaji reading (dah-mah-shee(ee)).
I haven't heard of any cases in which the internet has been abused by the United States or any organization assigned to administrate it...
I nearly choked... For starters (and since we are on slashdot) - do you know what the last letter in xxAA acronyms stand? What about open-key strong encryption problems (somehow it has settled - partially - but do you remember the buzz?). What about problems with reverse engineering sites? Should I continue?
Flooding? Wow - this gives me an idea - why should we all not go and submit (at least weekly) some random shit to USPTO? I wonder - if it gets DoS'ed what will they do then?
Why wait? A $200 PDA will probably pay off for itself before you need battery replacement on eBooks alone. Also it is a nice pocket DB, notepad, reference tool (PDA dictionaries are a blessing if you learn foreign language(s)) and a game console.
Hints: you need a good (around $10) antiglare "screen-protector" and a book-reader with "RTA-like" scrolling. For PalmOS I may recommend this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/palmfiction/
Sensored? Well, at least they are not _c_ensored. BTW - feel free to post something interesting from "Microsoft-owned 'news' sources". Maybe some interesting benchmarks or whatever...
Wow! Do you think perchance that this Pentium V will also have something to do with "code morphing"? I heard this technology should really be revolutionary!
Why? I cannot imagine how can the situation come when Intel is banned to provide "such deals" to Apple and still able to provide them to other makers. Can you? And if not - why would Apple be in "deep shit"?
Coding is a very special case of typing. I'd say that probably a fair deal of tech-writing is too. Now - if you were a fiction writer then Dvorak would (probably) make sense for you.
Maybe you are on some strange subnet that bots don't scan too much. Maybe you don't visit sites that track your address for "who-knows-what-purposes" (OTOH - at least you've successfully posted to/. so you have your port 80 scanned back). Maybe your provider filters bad traffic (or even NATs you). Maybe your connection is so unreliable that they don't bother. Maybe you just don't know. Lots of options.
Spongebob controls the DVR, of course!

MCSE is to computers as McDonalds Certified Chef is to fine cuisine.

I - as a foreigner - sometimes feel that I am strongly with you. If you close it both ways of course. Seriously - you're an asshole.

I dunno - anybody knows where B.S. can swim?
"Docs" (boring, I know).
Oh, here's another one: "cocks!" (slightly less boring).

Thanks - the image of Isaac Newton with two bolts to his head (and stitches) growling "I live again" will haunt me today.
This firmly depends on your definition of "their".
Yeah, and for "Restart" I use "Reset" button... Oops.
Have you perchance ever seen "normal" user working with "computers"?
if ($you == "programmer") {

But imagine a beo... Uhm, you mean inverse?
Because Windows programming is a PITA.
Hah, guitar playing robot. There are tons of those on MTV (not to mention "singing" fem-bots).
Off fuck, Yoda.
Translucent UI. With frills!

Isn't England in London?
Like install Linux on Lego or something?
