  1. Someone on the management team is accountable to the board for disaster recovery and other functions including data backup. How is not safeguarding corporate assets and intellectual property not a management level responsibility?

    It was astounding that people paid hourly fees for text muds in the mid 90s, to the tune of hundreds of dollars per month. There is subset of the gaming population who will seek out exclusive experiences, even if they cost several thousand dollars.

    Or less offensively, there is opportunity all around you. If you decide to make 50k in Silicon Valley, that is your choice.

    Is your point that the wrong people are getting into STEM programs at Stanford, where google hires a number of candidates? Is your point that some people cant move to the Bay area and climb the job ladder? More coherent detail, please.

  7. The employer doesnt have to prove anything in an at-will employment state. The manager just has to be irked enough to insist on your departure, and then shut his/her/its mouth on why.

  10. "Business wants the most qualified and best product" - This is patently untrue. Businesses are as moral as their performance against last quarters goals allows them to be. All decisions flow downhill from there.

    I wouldnt expect many people with choices to become a trucker these days. Automated vehicles, and all that. IT is arguably in disrepute after so much outsourcing. Why would anyone want to join a shrinking job field to compete with entrenched veterans for less pay?

    GDC conference sessions from 2016 recorded on youtube document rates of mobile game payments. They talk about less than 4% of game users spending over a thousand dollars each a year. While not all mobile games are on iphones, I could see this kind of subset really distorting the "per user" spend, and obscuring a secondary subset like how much is spent on non-game iphone apps.

    I doubt these employees were suddenly surprised by being asked to review porn. Most jobs like this include such screening questions to avoid people quitting on day 3 when they realize what the job is.

    Investors and board members are setting the salaries for the people trusted with a multi billion dollar company. Doesnt it logically follow that pay follows trust and responsibility?

  25. Beyond a shadow of a doubt. When attackers are using scripts to generate five and six digit domain lists for active attack infrastructures, this current system has failed.
