  1. Google Play Music %? on Apple Will Pay More To Streaming Music Producers Than Spotify -- But Not Yet · · Score: 1

Anybody know how much Google forks over for All Access subscribers?

  2. I guess they confirmed and proved his point... on Journalist Burned Alive In India For Facebook Post Exposing Corruption · · Score: 1

Surely there could have been smarter ways to go about this than further solidifying the point that he was making...

  3. Weird on So Long Voicemail, Give My Regards To the Fax Machine · · Score: 1

I remember back when I was a kid, and having the phone ringing into forever was normal. And then it wasn't... and now, I guess it will be? I get the savings incentive, but why not just replace the inbox with a voice-to-text converter and have it send the user an email?

  4. Conflicts of Interest? on Why Our Brains Can't Process the Gravest Threats To Humanity · · Score: 1

I'd say the problem doesn't lie with our apparent inability to "navigate wide-lens, slowly-unfurling crises like climate change" but rather with all the conflicts of interest combined with greed and power. If we could all work together instead of butting heads, I'm sure we'd have no problem living into forever.

  5. She may even learn about ÃY so she can write words fancily like scheiÃYe, schloÃY, and straÃYe! (I have no idea if there are any rules on when an "ss" can't be replaced by a ÃY)

  6. Re:Here's the plan on Apple Music and the Terrible Return of DRM · · Score: 1

While I agree, I do like what Google Play Music All Access has to offer (aside from its ridiculously long and silly sounding name). I can create playlists and download them on my phone. It's 2015, so I mean, that phone is with me practically every where I go... and if I don't have cell reception, it's no biggy because I have my playlists downloaded. This also means that I'm not constantly using data while I'm listening to music. I can also access the music really anywhere I can log into the internet, or anywhere that I can use my phone. It may be DRM'd, but it's non-invasive and it's really non-inhibiting... Maybe I'm naive, but I'm okay with this kind of DRM.

  7. PHB effect? on Yahoo Killing Maps, Pipes & More · · Score: 1

Excuse my living-under-a-rockedness... what is the PHB effect?

  8. Why not just put it how they would understand? on Tim Cook: "Weakening Encryption Or Taking It Away Harms Good People" · · Score: 1

If you lived in Compton, would you lock your front door, but keep the backdoor unlocked and windows open? If you open it, they will come.

  9. Re:Is there a difference? on LG Arbitrarily Denying Android Lollipop Update To the G2 In Canada? · · Score: 1

Oh crap, I forgot about the radio updates. That would probably put a damper on the custom ROMs for the Canadian variant.

  10. Is there a difference? on LG Arbitrarily Denying Android Lollipop Update To the G2 In Canada? · · Score: 1

Stingy move by LG. Is there a difference between the US version and the Canadian version? I remember using the ATT ROMs for the i727 phone when I had the Rogers i727r. Never had any issues with that (that I remember).

  12. Re:Blockland! on LEGO Launches a Minecraft Competitor On Steam · · Score: 2

Just came here to mention this. It's like we've gone full circle. Return to Return to Blockland?

  13. Be careful! on 1-Pixel Pac-Man · · Score: 1

Be careful where you demo that. It might be mistaken for a bomb!

I could take these pieces of jewellery, but screw that, this guy's got a sick 50" TV!

  15. Re:Good heavens on Billboard Advertising Banned Products In Russia Hides If It Recognizes Cops · · Score: 1

"Russian Billboard Ad for Grocery Store Selling Banned Products Hides If It Recognizes Cops."

  16. Dat Streisand effect... on High Court Orders UK ISPs To Block EBook Sites · · Score: 1

I'd never heard of any of these sites before.

  17. Huh? on The Tricky Road Ahead For Android Gets Even Trickier · · Score: 1

What if a significant number of the people who adopted Android as their first smartphone move on to something else as they become power users?

Err, which OS offers more depth and power OOTB than Android? I'm not sure what they mean by that. I ditched iOS for Android because I am a power user.

  18. It's actually surprising... on Microsoft Bringing Cortana To iOS, Android · · Score: 5, Interesting

With the amount of potential information mining that could be done with these apps, I'm surprised they aren't all cross-platform.

  19. If you build it... on Oculus Founder Hit With Lawsuit · · Score: 1

It's like that famous saying, you know, "If you build it, they will sue."

  20. Re:too bad it doesn't work with banks on The Body Cam Hacker Who Schooled the Police · · Score: 1

Huh, you got a much better response than the screaming and 911-calling that I'd have expected from somebody using that line in a bank.

  21. Re:Exotic on Asteroid Risk Greatly Overestimated By Almost Everyone · · Score: 1

Interestingly enough (and I don't know if I'm outside the norm) but, from a spectator aspect, I'd rather see an injection as the corpse looks less... mutilated and gory. However, from the perspective of getting executed, I'd rather be beheaded as it seems much quicker... you don't see or feel it slowly creeping over you.

  22. Re:Dumb question... on Oregon Testing Pay-Per-Mile Driving Fee To Replace Gas Tax · · Score: 2

I'd assume they save the receipts and receive a refund, like you do with income taxes.

  23. Why "Keurig-"? on Here Comes the Keurig of Everything · · Score: 1

How did Keurig become the de-facto coffee maker? What about the Tassimo, the Nespresso, or one of the few other coffee makers out there?

  24. Re:give up implies it has potential. on What Happens To Our Musical Taste As We Age? · · Score: 1

30somethings are a very difficult democraphic to market anything to. Pop themes like true love, freedom, rebellion, and partying fall on the deaf ears of millenials who've seen systemic police corruption and racism as a tool of an increasingly totalitarian state basically wipe the concepts out.

That's why we have punk and heavy metal music... and gangsta rap.

  25. Re:Why does it even have to be anonymouS? on Online Voting Should Be Verifiable -- But It's a Hard Problem · · Score: 1

But what if the username you were given was unique and anonymous? Like a randomly generated number that could be used as a checksum.
