Oh well, I guess it should be useful to the guy who made it, since he'd have learnt a great deal in the process.

This will give Debian quite a lot of publicity. Maybe enough for it to take off, at least in Germany ;-)

Personally I really wonder why people still use RPM based distributions, is it just because of the installer or the publicity? I mean, *everybody* who's heard of Linux must have heard of Redhat, but no beginner would have heard of Debian. Yeah like this "I'm using Linux 7.2, what are YOU using?"

Seriously I don't see anything potentially bad about making a user friendly installer, the one Debian uses now really could be improved. It's nice that they asked the Debian guys about it though. I wonder if it will get back to the main distribution of Debian if the installer is really as good as it sounds?

Since M$ Windows is an Operating System,
    M$ Windows = M$ IE + M$ WMP + M$N Messenger + M$ Office ( + XP )
Therefore, if M$ Windows is stripped naked, it violates the definition!! Surely M$ Windows must ship with all the bloat you can get!

I'm running Debian/Unstable and everything is great and fine. I have all that i need :

The only thing imperfect (on GNOME, which is what i'm using now) is the File manager, which is in fact getting better and faster in every release.

Once properly configured, I think the usability/stability/coolness of my Linux Desktop is much better than my Win2k one. The configuration wasn't easy though. I guess Linux needs a way to give easy yet powerful configuration.

I agree that Linux on the desktop couldn't compare with Windows a year ago, or maybe even 1/2 year ago, when the "killer apps" weren't ready yet. But now almost everything is ready.

    Okay maybe it's just me.
