I don't find this to be that interesting really. My dog tries to mimic my syllables. He makes distinctive growls for when he wants to go out, when he's hungry, and when he just wants attention. I don't find this to be that great of a feat. Chimps are able to learn sign language, so why are we surprised that they can learn words? Am I just missing the point here??
How are those cables out of spec? I didn't buy them because they looked cool either, I bought them because the normal 5 device cable clogs up airflow in my case and literally raises the temp about 10 degrees (Fahrenheit...and yes I know most of the world uses Metric...you don't have to remind me). I ran benchmarks and noticed no difference between the 2 cables just to make sure. I actually gained a few points on the rounded cables, but nothing signifigant. Perhaps if I had all 30 devices on my 39160 card then these cables might make a difference, but I'm only connecting one device, so does it really even matter? They do make rounded cables that work equally as well as high end ribbon cables, but those will run you a little extra just as the flat ones would. If I was going to be connecting 30 devices I wouldn't bother paying for scsi anyways, I'd go with a fibre channel array.
I ordered a rounded SCSI cable from these guys a few weeks ago. It took about a week and a half to get her, but that's very acceptable considering it was right around the holidays. I think most of that was UPS's fault anyways. These guys are very professional and they answered all my questions promptly and shipped my item the next day. Man I feel like I'm leaving feedback on ebay now.
The main reason I hated giving my address was because I was afraid I'd get stuck on a mailing list, although I rarely got anything from radio shack. They probably sold it to telemarketers anyways. If they would have ever asked for my e-mail address then I'd probably have to give them my spam account.
Go ahead and get some of that paint on garage floor lining that you see advertised on all the automotive shows on SpeedVision (if you have cable or Sattelite). You could do that, make some sort of airlock if you need to. A well sealed door might work, it just depends how clean you really need it. I'd basically just coat everything, assuming all your walls are concrete.
Ok, so if this metal shrinks when it gets hot, does that mean that if your processor runs hotter, then it might run more efficiently? Or would that efficiency be lost because of the added heat to disturb the flow of the electrons? Perhaps they could create the chips in a cooler environment then expose it to normal temperatures to bring the micron sizes down further? Either way, shrinking metal sounds pretty cool to me.
I work for an ISP that services a large portion of the united states and some other countries with ADSL service. We have software to keep our customer's trouble tickets in a database to document their problems. They paid over $20,000 for this software, which is completely obscene. They had some other software previous to it which was much lower scale in the graphics department, but it definitely made up for it in speed. That software worked great, but for some reason they still decided to pay 20 grand for the new stuff, when they already owned perfectly good software which they purchased at a much lower cost. I looked at the file size on some of the images used by this program, and for some 250x70 jpeg images they were racking up 80K a pop. The money they wasted on this could have been used to pay for some new computer or at least some optical mice because nobody cleans the rollerballs and they just don't work right. I can't believe they would pay someone that much for such a poorly designed software program, but as many people have stated in here already, if you don't max out your budget, you don't get as much for next year. Silly, ain't it?
I'm glad that the hard drive companies are realizing our need for more hard drive space. I mean sheesh, my Neverwinter Nights install takes up 2 gigs! One day we'll probably have memory sticks that size, strange to think...

I was gonna post something sex related too, but damn...everyone already beat me to it...
What a suprise huh?

So could I hook them all up, then focus them at a single point to cook my hot pockets in a matter of a few seconds?
I know this whole perpetual motion thing is great and all, but come on, tell us what we REALLY want to know...where's the flux capacitor? :)
So do very mentally distrubed people play more intense music? What about crazy people, does theirs sound like Pink Floyd or something?

I'm sorry sir, but Slashdot does not support that software, please call your OEM for further help.
I can't figure out whether to call him a hypocrit or a moron....I guess either works...
