  2. Re:A summary of what's up on Dell DJ: Yet Another MP3 Player · · Score: 2, Funny

It looks like there's one, and only one, big advantage of this over the iPod -- this thing has a 16 hour battery life (The Tech TV people tested it and says you will get 15 hours.) That is a really compelling feature; when I spend an entire day driving, or have a long flight with a nasty layover, I can toast my iPod's battery.

The Dell is also a bit cheaper, but not by a lot. A 20 MB unit goes for $329, while Apple sells its 20 MB iPod for $399 at its store. I'd personally want to see the Dell more like 50% cheaper than the iPod for it to be a compelling alternative.

Wouldn't you get a bit bored listening to 20MB of music over and over for 16 hours?

True, I'm from the UK and my college book-store is a rip-off. Its a Waterstones and is seriously expensive. If I need to buy a book for my course then I use PC Books. They're cheaper, free next day delivery and I get an extra 10% off for being in the NUS.

A couple of years ago when I started my course I used to go into town and go to WHSmiths, because they're cheaper than Waterstones and I used to get 15% off with an NUS card although they don't do that anymore.

Its intresting what you say about CSS and IE.

I use Mozilla and was browsing their site the other day and came across this pretty page on why you should switch to Mozilla. It was all very well done and heavily relied on CSS.

So I thought, this page is obviously mainly intended for the 90+% browser users who use IE. So how would it render in IE, bearing in mind how much CSS it uses. OMG, its crap! This doesn't help ppl switch because if they use IE it looks like a poorly designed page and thus they make think similar things about the browser.

Go try out the page in IE, and see what I mean.

Somehow I doubt this would work, because most people realise that they're computer illiterate.

When I used to be in Halls at Uni, I was paid 400, for the year to connect computers onto the network. I installed Norton (maybe it was McAffee, I can't remember) onto everyone's machines. This was set up so that it would automatically download updates from the computer centre. I then told the computer centre to allow access to that MAC address.

Most ppl came to make, thinking that they were stupid for not being able to connect, when it wasn't their fault. Most students don't mind being labeled as computer illiterate, and the poster would probably be torn down.
