Does anyone have any information how this works? I have a Hopper, and the last thing I recorded had commercials. Is it something to be enabled in the settings, does it happen automatically, or is there a button to hit to do it like the 30 second skip? I can't find anything when poking around the device, and googling it only brings up the lawsuit for me.
The removed it by the Consumer Preview. If you move the mouse cursor to the bottom left corner, a thumbnail of the start screen comes up. Clicking on that brings up the start screen. You can also just hit the Windows Key. I'm guessing on windows 8 tablets, there will be a prominent hardware home/windows key.
Have you tried updating to Android 4.0/Ice Cream Sandwich? the ICS Browser has many enhancements that seems to have been taken from the Android version of Chrome, like tabs. Its been fast and stable for me. If there isn't an OTA update for your tablet, there should be a good rom to use on xda-developers.
I use ICS Browser+ a browser built on the stock ICS Browser, with added functionality, like the ability to remove the normal menu and use a semi-circular "quick-controls" menu that pops up when you slide your finger in from the left or right side of the screen.
Microsoft DOES do it, just not with Windows, but with the Xbox 360. When a JTAG exploit was found by free60, Microsoft fixed it just before they released the exploit to run homebrew and unsigned code. The fix? Use a new bootloader and blow a fuse on the CPU dye that was part of the old bootloader, nullifying the exploit. Unfair and shady? Given the possibility of a real brick if the dashboard update failed, you betcha. Illegal? Not so far as I've seen.
"A paleontologist has discovered a 110 million-year-old dinosaur that had a mouth that worked like a vacuum cleaner,..." Do we really need two stories on the front page about Gene Simmons?
Comcast actually support Safari, however I'm not so certain how well the install software works on mac. In the very least, a tech can push registration through over the phone. Some people get broadband only for their gaming console, this is the only way for them to register.
It doesn't really install anything. Once the modem is added to the account the first time, the modem is sandboxed. The software is run merely to set up a username for e-mail and link it all to the account with the modem in the provisioning database and give the modem an active boot file.
You don't need to run the software, you could always call in and have Comcast do it for you. However, the username for the e-mail needs to be set up regardless if it will be used or not, since everything in the provisioning database uses that as a root.
Ooh, ooh. I've heard this kind of issue before. Seeing as I work support for a cable company (that will remain nameless) doing VoIP support, let's go through this line by line and translate, shall we?
The Phone Company DOES care. You damn right they care. They like to get paid. I think my phone company is nothing but a bunch of greedy bastards, so I will use this fact to treat anyone I deal with from said company like a piece of shit.
I refuse to wait on hold. Any phone company that offers an answering service for its customers certainly should be able to set one up where its customers can leave a message for them. I am self-important and feel that I have the right to talk to someone right away at busy times, screw anyone waiting patiently in the queue, I shouldn't have to wait 5, er... 40 minutes for a rep!
My answering service for instance has not been working since last November. I actually think they shut it off deliberately because when I didn't like the over billing I contacted Investor Relations and their legal department. Seems the phone company cares about its Investors. Seems this is a direct line into the corporate management. Go figure eh?
My answering service stopped working at the same time I was dealing with other billing issues, most likely something that happened while dealing with those issues, something that got overlooked by the rep that legal had me dealing with, but rather than bring it up with them, I'd rather just not pay my bill, because if its not fixed magically, I'LL SUE, I TOLD THEM I'D SUE!@111111
Note: The legal department has to deal with legal issues. If you want something done then write a letter or fax the legal department and threaten them. They are smart and they are high priced help. The Legal Department does not want to deal with this shit either.
Always talk to legal first instead of the people paid to help you. They'll go out of their way to just shut you up so you're not a nuisance. You always come before anyone else, after all!
Well - seems the COMPANY PRESIDENT phoned me. Seems he didn't like me suggesting that after my bill has been PAID IN FULL BEFORE THE DUE DATE that its not ok for them to restrict my line and seems they also don't like me changing the amount owing and paying what I owe and telling them it is THEIR job to straighten their accounting out not mine and I'm not willing to wait on hold while they do it
Seems they think it is My responsibility to take up with the bank the time it takes for the bank to transfer the money into their accounts. This is despite the fact that they admitted the money was in their account at the time they restricted the service and they simply didn't check. The bank was excellent. Note when the line is restricted someone will answer the phone. This person noted the bill had been paid in full. They left the line restricted for about 4 days. They restricted it the day the bill was due. I paid in advance.
Some rep called me sounding important, so it had to be the company president. He has nothing better to do than talk with me, of course! Anyway, apparently either I made a payment in escrow or mailed a check and did not give enough time for it to PROCESS before the due date, and also decided they charged me too much, so I didn't pay the minimum due. THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO DISCONNECT MY SERVICE IF I SEND PAYMENT 2 DAYS BEFORE THE DUE DATE WHAT I THINK IS DUE!
My Position: THE BANK IS YOUR AGENT, NOT MINE. You pay the bank for this service. Not me. If YOU have an issue with the bank then YOU take it up with the bank. Not Me! I told the guy to walk down the hall and ask his legal department.
HOW DARE THEY GIVE ME FLACK FOR MAKING PAYMENTS AT THE LAST SECOND! If they are still processing the check and can't verify if it has cleared, ITS NOT MY PROBLEM! I don't have time in my busy life for things like mailing payments a week or more ahead of time, or making credit card payments online/over the phone! I told that
When is Halo 2 due out? Since Vista is not due out until the end of the year, I can't remember a time before when a game in dev was to be released only for an OS not even on the shelves.
I can't really see this making either Halo 2 or Vista jump off the shelves when they hit the market.
The crux of his argument is that, since he disagrees with some of the CC licenses, and people tend to lump them all together, he feels compelled to reject them all. What's your take?
My take? He's a raving lunatic... but I didn't need this article to tell me that.:)
He knows better. Anyone who used to watch techtv in the day, or listens occasionally to the TWIT podcast knows that he and Leo Laporte respect one another. Leo tends to go so far as to say he learned almost everything from Dvorak on occasion. Yet Laporte is an avid Mac user. He also uses PCs, but loves to promote Apple when he can, but he knows enough not to go too far. Even he's taken light jabs at Dvorak over him undermining Apple and the Mac platform.
So I believe he knows enough professionals and intelligent people use it. He just doesn't like it, and even though he knows others can use it productively, he doesn't either know or care how or why they are able to do this.
As was stated in a story before, when its about Apple, even Leo Laporte, as much as he respects Dvorak, knows to take him with "a pinch of salt".
Instead of Windows +I, you can also move your mouse to the bottom right to bring up the charms bar, and click on Settings.
"I can rebuild myself, I have the technology!"
What if you moved without trying to observe it, like quickly open your hand like paper as your hand comes down, then immediately close it into a fist?

You mean this kind of friend?

Of course. One look at goatse or 2girls1cup, and Hitler would have crumbled!
Hey! Games like Spore and The Orange Box don't hold a candle to Tux Racer!
Yes. Just don't fsck without intending to mkfs, or you'll be sent straight to /dev/null.
They should rename it "Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?".
"A paleontologist has discovered a 110 million-year-old dinosaur that had a mouth that worked like a vacuum cleaner, ..."
Do we really need two stories on the front page about Gene Simmons?
Think of the embarrassment this would have saved Napoleon!
My first thought was "Ah, that explains RMS!"

Barely made first place, huh?
Cause obviously first place just isn't good enough.
In all honesty, with all the hype, it was pretty close to impossible to live up to it. I'm surprised it even made first over the weekend.
It makes you wonder if he saw Sally Struthers on TV and called the number.
Got his law degree from a correspondence course after getting his gee eee dee!
Or just watch a lot of Star Trek.

My bad, I didn't mean in my last line that Laporte ever said that, but to take Dvorak with a pinch of salt.
