I hate to be the voice of protest against something like this but censorship is censorship and by starting with something nobody is going to raise a voice against will only lead to them censoring porn next, then maybe they'll decide to censor racist groups, then churches by now you should get the picture.
I think people are missing the relative importance of WiMax. Using their private spectrum and numerous tower locations the cell companies will cut the cord with the landline circuits. This will end one of the biggest problematic causes of dropped calls and poor voice quality in the industry. Also the cell networks will become super redundant as they will be configured as one mesh network. And with the advent of phones such as one in development by Motorola that uses WiFi to expand it's range in areas of poor reception coverage will improve by leaps and bounds since it's much more efficient to expand a in building WiFi netwrok than installing a microcell into the building.
Are bandwidth prices going to go down enough to make this feasable for the masses. I'm sure that's nice but I dont see DSL, Colocation, and other providers upping the ante on bandwidth anywhere. Most people have even seen their speedy DSL connections hacked time and time again until they're at 256/64 vs the 1.544/768 many started with when DSL became available. Even when I first got a cable modem through RoadRunner back in 2000 in NC during the testing phase and for a short while afterwards it was working at nearly 6mbit and 2mbit up.
Today I'm hard pressed to find anything better though speakeasy has many beat for the price.
I can get similar performance here but the prices are double speakeasy's are and they would limit me to 10 gigs of transfer a month. No thanks.
Right now my best option for anything better than DSL is Verizon Wireless's EvDO which will provide 2mbit peak both ways. But there's not a wireless technology that's not lag ridden becuase of constant retransmissions due to lost packets over the air interface.
Landline providers would still have no incentive to up their speeds and make their lines actually usefull for a chance. Seems they cant get past the fact that 99.95% of their customers habits wouldnt really change all that much unless there were some killer broadband apps out there which there is not becuase nobody will bring up the speeds.
So the whole world will do something like subscribe to America Online, they'll ship you this box that you plug into your TV and bam you're on the internet. Hmm how many have failed that route?
I highly doubt I'm going to pick up the latest copy of HalfLife and it's going to come with a Uber pc along with it. We'll it could if it the game maker charged me 2 grand to buy the game.
Surely someone is going to sue becuase some adolcent usher watched him play with his girlfriend or the other way around in the theater when the couple thought nobody could see them.
MMORPG's by far have been the most beta quality software I've ever had the experience to pay and test at the same time. I have played every MMO launched since Asheron's call as part of working for warcry news network and I can tell you you're always playing beta quality code.
To be fair it may just be more of a "work in progress" than beta but still you have to live with the bugs or move onto another game which will be in the same situation.

Aside from those of us that are in the data wharehousing business most carriers are very space concious. Now I havent gone to look at the unit but even if they were all the size of the standard 3600 routers you're still talking a serious space consideration to even set this up.
Not to mention medusa living on the back of this thing to connect it.
I have also seen many carriers more critical centers and I can tell you not many of them would have the room without knocking out a few walls. Perhaps if some of them would finally rid theirselves of the outdated sun servers that for some reason have to be 12U high most of the time and run about as fast as a PII they could accomodate these.
I would hope these same scientists would also be looking for a way to tap the energy off the reaction vs superheating turbine water. How much energy is wasted in the conversion process that could be better tapped through other methods.
Right now ringtones for the song itself are running nearly 2.50 per tone. Now if I can buy the same song off napster for.99c then what am I paying for. Most of those tones are of the parts of the song I dont want for the ringer either way. This gives me choice. Something the RIAA cant stand anyone to have.
That everyone I have talked to tried to REPARTITION their windows partition and then install FC2 on the freespace. It has never worked with any distro to my knowledge. Use partition magic and you should be fine.
Antec now sells a Micro ATX case fry's/compusa 114/129 dollars. MSI Dual Opteron board would cost you around 200. So for 314 (Even less than a Shuttle SN85G Athlon 64 machine.) you get a quiet case (That can even have watercooling with a external set)
The Micro ATX ones also have 3 PCI 1 AGP slots.
However I'm still waiting on faster SATA and PCI Express to make it's way into these motherboards before I decide to upgrade. And I'm still hoping that AMD will make athlon 64 dual proc chips.
Are you sure the kernel module is loading? Have you tried going to #fedora on irc.freenode.net?
I hate to be a prude but it's possibly just a minor issue and you can fix it with a few commands and then file a bug report and it'll be fixed for Core 3.
If someone timed a signal to swap out a network's advertising and display their own the FCC would be up the person's butt with a hot poker.
Just becuase it's done on the internet makes no difference this should be illegal and we should have laws against it. Every country has laws concerning hijacking of others signal they also should have the same that apply to internet ad's.
The monster was created by the idiots that let software patents come in the first place. So next time you look in the mirror remind yourself how important it is to make yourself heard to your elected officials.
Now due to software patents were seeing a decrease in innovation and a increase in companies that do nothing but sue over patents without contriubting to jobs or taxes in any appreciable manner and are tieing up our legal system with their money grubbing tactics.
I'm sure martha stewart did not patent all her home decorating techniques but now were faced with patents for customising our UI's so if we want certain features we'd have to lock ourselves into another OS.
If MS had their way they could just patent all the cool UI stuff that the layman likes to seein their OS and nobody would adopt Linux becuase it was reduced to a standard Xfce style interface.
And not to mention the hacks over at freedesktop.org.
You can tell if it's truely translucent if you move the window and watch the background. If psuedo translucent then it'll jerk around but if smooth most times it's a true translucent.
Asheron's Call 2 has Translucent windows for chat. Horizons has translucent windows.
This is silly that they would patent something like this. Who owns the patent on glass?
All it's reporting is activity of a hiker passing a certain area. It does not know who you are or anything of that matter just that a human passed by down a trail. (Not sure how he'll get it to not give false reports on deer or bears.)
I mind popups, spam, and anything else that is there witout my express permission to be there. I want full use of the expensive 17-23 inch monitors I have on my systems and not a pixel less is acceptable.
Advertising is a myth. If I need something I go out and look at it and buy it. I cannot remember the last time I was moved by a commercial to go out and buy a product at all. I'm sure many other tech savvy americans are the same way.
Advertising is so prevalent on the radio that trying to listen to music on my 30 minute commute to work every morning and afternoon is a work in futility becuase all I hear are ad's for head shops, fake products, and those damn radio ad's of the station itself.

That you're going to shoot at a suspected TNT container and see if it's actually TNT.
Why not just go sit on top of it and light up.

I think it's time we have a section and icon for patent issues. Would be nice to look at this mess of patents in one section.

There has been no announcement on a Linux client. Someone misquoted Linuxnews's article.
So this 5,000 dollar DVD collection I have may be rotting.
Great becuase I doubt if any go bad I'll be able to get them replaced. This could get expensive.
Rambus at the time was hugely expensive.
DRAM at the time was no.
Gee whiz what are people going to buy.
And Intel supporting Rambus to me only seems as a attempt to make a buck through backdoor investments.
We'll actually I think Linux can work with less that 4mbit of Ram.. My linksys router runs linux. And it's got either 4 or 8..
