If you want to make a player, why would you want to spend extra money to be compatible with some market player who jumped in late and made an incompatible proprietary format to try to kill the competition which is already a STANDARD and perfectly capable of doing exactly the same thing that DVD+R does?
You've got a very good point.
But....ummm....perhaps you've heard of a company called...uhhh....what was it again...?
* ATI leaks news of updated PowerMac G4s (and summarily gets poor product placement in them afterwards, with Apple favoring Nvidia for years to come)
Yep, I remember it well, but... {story-teller voice == true} ...then something happened...you could only get the "low-end" Nvidia cards in the most expensive model. Nvidia carried much weight in namesake, despite this and (IIRC) bested the "best" ATI cards of the time. But, then, Nvidia stumbled, and ATI actually became the leader (much to the suprise of many).
The battle still *ahem* 'Rages' on. {s-t == off}
I suppose the theory behind the dislike of leaks is: Loose lips sink ship(ping products)s.
But in this case, the "I want to believe" and "No 970 and all hope is lost" is too strong to quash rumors.
I'd venture to say that the official announcement will be greeted by a cheer that will raise the roof (and depending on the heat output of the dual, you *might* be able to hear it over the fain noise.:) )
People here have claimed that the RIAA wants such things as making individual backups of personal CDs, and playing said backups on their computer illegal, and that is simply not true!
What about copy restriced cd's?
While the RIAA doesn't mind individual backups, as you say, the RIAA seems to be making it impossible now-a-days to do so? Add to that, the DMCA, which makes it a crime to work around the copy restriction.
Allowing people to do X, then making it almost impossible to do X and in turn making it illegal to do X is not a good system, IMO.
That reminds me, I need to backup my CCR disk, it's getting kind of scratched...too bad I can't do the same to Alannis Morsett's disk as it's unplayable in some areas. (oh, and shush about my musical tastes, you...the disk was free)
{heh, interesting, I think I just invalidated your arguement......that's a first}
frome Apple's page: QuarkXPress has deservedly gained a reputation for reliable printing, offering consistent and dependable output that prevents costly mistakes.
You mean like every Quark point-oh release?
/background voice: this is a point-OH release.
Ummm, errrr...never mind.
(is this the release with even more annoying copy protection than WPA? Because they seem to have left it off of Apple's write up...I wonder why?)
I've been looking for something like this for a looooong time (freebie program/applescript/shell script).
If it even half-way works I hope your comment gets modded up, because, well having metadata and not using it to its full advantage just seems crazy (as in here's to the crazy ones).
You have to tailor your statement to your audience:
1) If anyone is guilty of using P2P for music, raise your hand...
2) If anyone is guilty of using P2P for pr0n, raise both hands...
I think if the MPAA wanted to crack down on porn, like the RIAA is cracking down on music swapping, would they develop a scheme like the RIAA's 32x burner =='s more damages.
I can see it now: "yes, your honour, we are asking for 16X damages for the defendant download of "behind the green door", based on the speed of which he was...errr....uhhh...how do I explain this...".
Panther (10.3) we know is coming, that is a given and that is the substance.
The "Shadow" is the G5 and even the most die-hard mac fan would most likely utter the phrase:

IMO, apple needs to figure out if they are going to keep/dump metadata...and stick with it. I find it quite half-assed you can generate previews of images, but not store them. (with the exception of Internet Explorer, but only one at a time)

yeah, that's it.
Stupidity is hereditary...your kids give it to you.

The marriage part...well, I'll let her explain it.
Wouldn't it be better to go to MS and just have everything known?
AAAAhahahahaha.
funniest fricking thing I've read all day...and looking at your User#, all I can say is welcome back, you've been away a while, haven't you?

Good question, and I fear that a Microsoft + goatse.cx joke is the only answer.
gimme a minute.
Microsoft Backs Down on Windows 2000 EULA
Yes, but did it hurt when they did?
Oh, so you can turn it off alright. Does that change anything?
...hey, waitaminute....
Yes, well, until the next security update, bugfix or service pack...
(ever notice how the msn redirect gets put back, outlook express {I've got a kixscript to kill it} and a few other annoyances every update?)
You are correct, IMO.
I don't think it's an unfair suppository to make at all that Microsoft is viewing this as a high-risk low-cost gamble on SCO winning this fight.
Man o' man, those three words in that one sentence brought up mental images that no one should have to endure.
I have to go scrub my brain now.

That's not how it came across to me, I thought it was a porn reference/harry potter ref.
