There is a middle ground--like female characters that are competent without only being sex objects. It really isn't such an impossible thing to wish for.
It may not be an insult, but it's hardly empowerment--the character was originally going to be a man, and they made her a woman to get a payoff at the end. This hardly qualifies as a good example of women in gaming.
"(heck, you wouldn't *believe* how many people I've met who think Samus is male)."
That's because she's inside of powered armor. If the character wasn't encased in a suit that makes it well-nigh impossible to tell that she's a woman they'd have been forced to portray her...and I bet she'd have come out looking more Lara Craft-y, or been turned into a man.
It just isn't very exciting. Between Safari, Camino, Firefox and Omniweb there aren't any browsing needs that remain for me to have filled...and Opera looks like boiled crap on the Mac.
Maybe you don't know this, but Mos Def is a pretty remarkable actor--he did a star turn in TOPDOG/UNDERDOG two years ago, and he's an extremely funny, charismatic performer.
"When the Arctic floe melts at spring, the Inuit are going for thousands of years to its edges for fishing and finding game."
"Have been" rather than "are". Could someone just give these submissions ONE editing pass? Please? It really does encourage sense, and it makes this place look a lot less like a fly-by-night garbage pit.
I'm betting that Apple is intending to expand iSync so that it covers Cobalt...or, less likely, will announce their own PDA. But I doubt it will come to that--after all, the iPod already works as a low-level PDA anyway.
It's bad enough that the signature system only works with Microsoft Office, but it doesn't look like it supports Office on the Macintosh--it would appear that people don't even have to pay lip service toward supporting more than the MSFT hegemony.
Not always true--I never thought I'd skip the Matrix films, but I haven't seen the 3rd one and have no plans to, give where that franchise headed. I only saw the 2nd SW film once, which for me was very little. It can happen.

"I can't play iTunes files on my computer even though I have half a dozen players that will play, rip, and burn AAC files, because of Apple's DRM."
i think you are talking about ITMS files, and not the standards-compliant AAC files one can choose to rip your files into with iTunes. You see, I think it's important in discussions like this to be specific.
Well, by "already announced" you mean "announced the same day" but otherwise your facts are straight. I am curious if you get the same playing time of 16 hours with mp3s as your do with WMA.
Actually, the minis are a lot smaller in volume. Were people really expecting *Apple* to have the cheapest player with the most storage on the market?
I'm glad there's no 20th Anniversary Mac, as the last one epitomized everything that was wrong with the Old Apple--expensive, gimmicky and in a few years, cheesy looking.
"However, I was a little dissapointed by the price of the new iPod mini. At $250 (just $50 less than the (now) 15Gb iPod) I can't really see how it's worth it. I'll just pay another $50 and get an iPod that can hold my entire music library. Not sure what they were thinking with that price."
They were thinking that people pay a premium for miniaturization--is this news to anyone who has even seen a laptop?
It may be overpriced to some, but so were the iPods when they came out, and look how they sell.

You mean the fourth wall.
Exactly my point--if they had made her a woman by design, it'd be another Lara Croft deal.

This is sarcasm, so maybe someone should mod it in that way.
You know, there is a middle ground between the ridiculousness of Ayn Rand and the ridiculousness of total socialism.
That's my preference order as well--I just don't need more than 5 or so.
It just isn't very exciting. Between Safari, Camino, Firefox and Omniweb there aren't any browsing needs that remain for me to have filled...and Opera looks like boiled crap on the Mac.
Somehow I doubt it's stolen--I suspect they've paid the applicable parties for the rights, unless for some reason you know differently.
That's hogwash--it's a great play, and it's much better performed than read, as you'll find is true of most plays.
It's actually about 40% smaller in volume...and if you're dickering over storage capacity you aren't teh target audience.
Maybe you don't know this, but Mos Def is a pretty remarkable actor--he did a star turn in TOPDOG/UNDERDOG two years ago, and he's an extremely funny, charismatic performer.
It's not an excuse for the lack of judicious editing.

It *is* actually a fairly true aphorism--there have been plenty of studies that show a high degree of redicivism in criminals.
I'm betting that Apple is intending to expand iSync so that it covers Cobalt...or, less likely, will announce their own PDA. But I doubt it will come to that--after all, the iPod already works as a low-level PDA anyway.
That's okay--the advantage won't be apparent to folks without taste, a point you make extremely clear with this post.

This is insightful? It's barely readable.

Engraved ones are handled differently--the one you get back will have the same engraving.
I've had my iPod replaced before, and the replacement looked identical to a new iPod, to my eyes. I think your concerns are pretty unfounded.
