Decide between Explorer or Mozilla/Netscape, do not code for both and if they give you trouble with it say that it would take 3 times longer, at least!!! Do not back down, don't worry. They will either accept it or you would be working in a much better place.
oh and...
Always make sure you have savings for at least 3 months rent and you will be all set.
Don't get pressured by women, just tell them you love them and don't get tired in explaing why it is too expensive...
Worst is talking to developers that think they are re-living the roles from such movies and think that the world is hanging from a thread if they decide to complete a piece of code or not...
I agree but until there is a consesus not only on standards but on what works on multiple browsers you are forced to fall back on bad habits.
I have been trying to put together a master detail page that at least WORKS on both IE and Mozilla. Right now I'm stuck on scrollable tables: - Use the TABLE tag or not? - What exactly will enable scrollbars? (DIV, SPAN, IFRAME?) - Where to put icons and who is going to handle them (CSS or Javascript)?
I just about exhausted my options to comply with standards and Im just in hack mode trying to make things work.
...imposed by the DMCA. Sounds like the filter is a combination of IP and port. Would it be reasonable to have downloads use port 80? (IP's could be well "known")
Every time I read the reviews at amazon I summarize how many positive comments vs. how many negative.
If a negative comment makes sense and could be corroborated by another negative comment then all the positive comments are suspect if they outnumber by a dramatic ratio.
(surely this is off-topic)... is by using a technology that can be cracked by a teenager and be replicated/copied around the world. And instead of fixing the technology they buy legislators to make laws to come down on this kid and make him an example to the world.
Unless I like to invest (and trust) in mafia type industries, I would place my money somewhere else.
I feel obligated to mention Mexico City's subway. It is one of the most extensive in the world... and I bet the cheapest too. At rush hour in some stations passengers are divided into women and men, for decency and security since you are really packed in the cars. Although you are not pushed and packed by a subway worker like they do in Japan.
Currently China is the fastest growing economy in the world. All helped in part by foreign investement and by becoming the world's manufacturing centre.
Although is hard to verify but at least the chinese like to think that.
A bank doesn't have their production & accounts servers connected to the internet. They do have web servers which interface with other internal servers that have transitory information.
Batch procedures take care of saving and balancing all daily transactions.
Banks get audited, and I beleive (at least in the US) if the government finds out that a bank is risking its servers through the internet they will make them pass a really bad time (and still the public wouldn't know about it).
Profit/greed will become the whole point and technicalities with different OSes are background noise. After all, Business executives wouldn't understand or even care the faceoff between MS and Linux.
It's a matter of time until we see MS react and dance to a different rythm:-p
In a way this makes sense. A big corporation will not only (if at all) consider ease of use at the GUI level to determine the right OS to save costs and get the job done.
It is normal for a big corporation to have standards and procedures and if they have them to get things done in windows they can certainly have them to do stuff with linux. As long as it can be proven that Linux can do the same tasks with the same amount of effort (but different knowledge and mindset) then the last decision will be about cost.
To pay Microsfot for support or have it's own support staff becomes irrelevant. What is important is the independence from the policies of ONE vendor.
Right now these options STILL are not as clear to many CEOs or even CIOs. With time and with improvements similar to Xandros will force Microsoft to change their ways (and as we have seen before, they will).
Obviously is the secret formula in his Dippity-Do! gel.
Resists heat, wind, dust and harsh uv rays. Of course each double-0 agent has his own special formula. The Mega-hold formula is to be used carefuly because his hair may become hard as nails, something you don't want to wear when being with that cute informant/spy.
I still don't understand the fascination for Robots in Japan.
It is obviously part of the japanese culture to contemplate a robot as an ideal solution for this sort of problems and that serious money is invested in reaching that goal. It's also clear how that is not the case in western cultures, just look at the amount of "Funny" posts on this topic.
Now if I would be contemplating having one I see two big problems right away: -How is it really going to navigate in the mess I have in my appartment, hell I can't. -How is it supposed to stop intruders when this robot is the single most expensive thing I have in the house! (I bet is not cheap)
The only explanation I can come up with is that is yet another toy for the japanese high class.
What's wrong with Delphi?
It has the modularity, strong type checking and simple sintax to help you start learning.
I beleive you could download version 1 (16 bit?) for free - but Im not sure.
Just my $0.02
I agree.
Is it too late to mode parent up?
thx.

Both parent posters are right... there was nothing detected by Symantec in advance.
Ooops! Case closed...End of discussion...Next Slashdot topic.
Gary Headlee is the guy mentioned in the article who has more information on the list of boards affected:
Motherboard Cap Replacement
I agree.
This puts the original poster back to topic and proves him wrong.
Please mod up.
Haaa! Thats right...
Perhaps he was too busy trying to make his client feel stupid.

Triple the number of nice looking mutants and looks like a better story... can't we switch the discussion to THIS movie?
How lazy can u be... I type my password without thinking now.

That's exactly right.

So, If the site author really thinks people should watch their popups then I would look somewhere else.

This board is clearly out of spec... since when I need to free up two slots to add a graphics card?
Obviously inserting it wont be easy and expect many breakage and damage returns.
Unfortunately for male posters she is right.
Mod her up.
