I'd be interested to see how something like Valve's Steam would show up in the game window. Would it show up as just Steam, or would it show the various Steam-based games?
First of all, I'm pretty sure grounding the shuttle program means all the launches scheduled from now on are cancelled until further notice.
As for the shuttle in orbit, the astronauts have been trained to replace damaged insulation/tiling in space and so I assume they will fix this part of the shuttle while in space before re-entry.
This gets me thinking... seems like the recording industry really targets preteen/younger teens with the likes of MTV and Much Music (in Canada), and these kids can't afford to go buy CDs on their allowance mom and dad is giving them. So here we have teens that are very interested in the music scene without any money. The illegal music solutions make sense for them.
Many juvenile crimes -- such as the carjacking that is so central to "Grand Theft Auto" -- are conventionally described as "thrill-seeking" crimes. Isn't it possible that kids no longer need real-world environments to get those thrills, now that the games simulate them so vividly?
That's almost as stupid as the idea that children who play realistic FPS games are more likely to use guns with violent intent in real life because they are disconnected with reality. In fact, wait, that's saying pretty much the same thing. It was a pretty well written article, but don't fight fire with fire.
You have to take into account though that the intel processors also have to do the Vertex Shading work when it comes to graphics rendering... are you saying it still outperforms the A64 in processing efficiency even then?
I'm assuming "XP only" means XP.. not Windows 2000, not Server 2003, etc. A lot of people still run those because they don't want the bloat XP has to offer.
Also, I don't know why Microsoft thinks that a web browser would motivate a user to upgrade their whole operating system (I'm sure this is the marketing technique they are going after). Is IE7 really going to be -that- amazing?;)
I see a lot of people on here that bash the brothers for their poor work after the Matrix. IMHO, it's really hard for anyone to live up to the Matrix, even it's own creators. I think we expect a movie coming from these two guys to be as original and amazing as the Matrix all over again, and that's not easy.
No, sounds like a pretty big part of the movie to just change to me. Also everyone in the movie has English accents, you couldn't just change the city. My guess is they might delay the release until things in London get a little more back to normal.
I still think Firefox won't be used widely throughout the corporate enterprises until the team develops a good update system. It's enough of a pain for me to install over my old version when an update comes out, let alone hundreds of computers.
Until you don't play consoles with a nasty controller with a joystick to aim and drive or whatever I will not bother buying one for myself. I can't leave my mouse behind (for FPS's, at least, and that's all I care about)
Yes, for instance many kids trying to find out some information about the White House have had the privilege of viewing www.whitehouse.com (the real address is.gov)
How about someone out there makes a good hockey game for the console (or any other sport other than football, for that matter)? Well, not that I care much anymore because I've been taken over by PC FPSs, so now I hate consoles...
But, back when I played on Gamecube/X-Box I had always wished there was a hockey game out there with really good gameplay that actually looked somewhat realistic, where the players in it looked like they knew how to skate and where you couldn't make a 180 turn in a split second like you were some super skater.
I think as far as sports games go (team sports at least, this doesn't include racing or whatever), nothing really lives up to the football games out there on consoles. I guess it's just really hard to make games like basketball and hockey work as video games.
"The keys are divided into groups and their feedback springs are weighted differently; from 35 grams to 80 grams, which correspond to the strength of the finger that touches the keys."
You know, I never learned the "efficient" 5-finger typing system... I've just kind of adapted my own system for typing using pretty much my first 3 fingers on each hand (and of course the thumb for space). I don't have to look at the keyboard, and I bet I can type just as fast as anyone else out there who uses the "standard" typing procedure.
So maybe this board isn't for the ubergeek after all, because you're only uber if you adapted into an instinctive typing beast;O
I'm pretty sure an MP5 is a submachine gun. For the SWAT/military forces it can do a 1-round shot or 3-round burst shots. So okay, the author left off the sub- prefix. It'll be okay.
What I would like more is if they introduced little "templates" so to speak. Different setups, if you will. So instead of having those big columns spread across the bottom I could have them in small boxes along the side or something. I'm sure Google will keep advancing the customization options as time goes on...
If you ask me, back when I was new to Debian the #debian on the OpenProjects IRC network was great. I guess that's all changed names/moved to the freenode IRC network now but I'm sure that the support is still the same.
Not to mention, all the people in that channel were volunteers, as far as I know.
This stuff reminds me of all that PayPal scam stuff I've been receiving in the e-mail lately that wants "verification of your account status" and whatnot, which really just takes you to a foreign site where you'd enter your account info, and suddenly someone else has a hold of your account money. It all looks EXACTLY like a real PayPal e-mail would, the only difference is when you mouse over one of the links you see some random IP address as the URL. (although, this type of thing works a lot better for Paypal scams since Paypal does operate on e-mail a lot).
Regardless, these types "creative people" are really, really good at fooling the eye.

But okay, look at the following sentence:
Many juvenile crimes -- such as the carjacking that is so central to "Grand Theft Auto" -- are conventionally described as "thrill-seeking" crimes. Isn't it possible that kids no longer need real-world environments to get those thrills, now that the games simulate them so vividly?

I would assume Microsoft has already conquered the market share on their planet, so they're probably going with Notepad.
Yes, as a matter of fact the guy above you did, and he even knows all the words.

Brings a whole new meaning to the act of cow tipping...
Slashdotted is definitely my least favorite verb. Who would ever want such a horrendous thing occur to them :o

YES! What an overwhelming win for the open source community! Sure to put us in the lead over Billy now!
:)
Hah, but really, it is a funny story
What's the big deal? We just wanted to check out some nerdy news about stuff that mattered.

Oh wait, I just noticed you can drag and drop those boxes to rearrange them. Nifty! But still, not what I was going after :D

Was Linux ever winning this war? Microsoft's been in the lead, it's just that Linux is playing catch-up.
