Ghost Recon was a bust, when i first played it. Having only played 'come get some' FPSs (like doom/ut(2k3)/turok), the sneaky touch to the game was what got me.
There is something to crawling through high grass, hearing the nature around you and then getting half of your team killed in a second by some stupid sniper, who you can not even see...
my xp 1700+ does run at 70c peak and is NOT sluggish.
maybe, you need a fresh system? sometimes (especially on kids computers) there's something wrong that 'sluggishizes' the system AND heats up the processor...
i'm just not used to it and can not understand why anybody should carry a gun around.
where i live, you would get your ass sued if you used a weapon in a personal conflict. if you get attacked, you are allowed to counter the attack by reasonable means. and a gun is very high on that list.
maybe it is just a regional problem, but the crime statistics don't justify carrying a weapon in my country.
if you are not a criminal and if you don't work under personal danger (e.g. for the police), you don't carry a gun. it's easy.
Its actually kind of reassuring. If some nut tries to do something in our store, we all know whats going to happen.
well, what could a nut do, if there weren't guns easily available? and who prevents your boss from going nuts? would you still feel comfortable, if this hypothetical nut threatens to blow the building and holds you as a hostage? is it reassuring to know, that your boss is able to turn any hypothetical crisis into a gun fight?
the only time i felt comfortable around gun-carrying people was during my time at the army. it was a controlled environment with people, who were actually trained to handle a weapon. i just can't imagine being in public, and everybody could be a gun-owning sicko!
how comes your way of thinking? were you raised in times of war?
If you're still feeling gung-ho, USA-Number 1 then take a look at this [informatio...house.info] and let me know what you think.
nice link. but one part of the text absolutely made my day... ROFL
In September 1996, a North Korean submarine got stranded at Kangrung, South Korea, and its crew abandoned the ship. Eleven of the crew committed suicide and the rest fought to the last man except one who was captured. In June 1998, another submarine got caught in fishing nets at Sokcho and its crew killed themselves. Such is the fighting spirit of North Korean soldiers.
so a typical fighting scene could be like: u.s.-soldier: "sir! we just captured a north korean submarine with our elite fishing nets! what shall we do with them?" u.s.-captain: "this is an urgent case. maybe they will send some divers and plant mines... maybe they'll launch some kind of missile at us... maybe they will... oh wait!" *remembers* "let's listen to the microphones, boy!"
*cranking up volume of underwater microphones* *bubbling water* *faint korean shouting* *faint korean discussion* *silence* *faint thump* *24 faint thumps in short intervalls*
u.s.-captain: "phew, that was close." u.s.-captain (to himself): "tough fellas, these koreans, my oh my...";)

it reads:
Do you have refill kits for ink cartridges?
No. EPSON Quick-Dry inks are specially formulated for specific EPSON ink jet printers. Using Non-EPSON brand ink cartridges or refilling EPSON ink cartridges may cause damage to your print head, and such damage is not covered by any Limited Warranty
as a load of people have already stated before, the manufacturers cut down on production cost for their printers. this is a logical second step to increase revenue. the first step was to force customers to pay periodically for expensive cartridges. now is the time to make printers themselves replaceable.
generally, it is a clever move. you can choose between long life with a professional printer and manufacturer ink, or you can try to get away cheaper with a consumer-grade printer in combination with non-original ink.
any other way won't work.
and, on a side note:
my personal experience as an employee of an epson service partner is
DO NOT USE COMPATIBLE INK CARTRIDGES IN EPSON PRINTERS!
70-80% of the epson inkjet printers we get back for servicing have clogged printheads due to the use of cheap ink. the consistency of some non-original ink is thicker than that of the original used by the manufacturer. as epson states in its FAQ, the ink is specially designed to match these printers' advanced printhead technology. and this is not a marketing trick. there is substance to this statement.
as seductive as these offers are, i would not recommend using them...
1. download the latest drivers for all components (chipset, controllers, graphic,...) and the latest BIOS for your board 2. backup all important/personal data + new drivers 3. format harddrive (physical) 4. remove all components but psu, mb/cpu, ram, hdd, cd, graphics card 5. repartition hdd with software of choice (1 system partition, 1 app. partition, 1 data partition) 6. option: now's the time to think about multi-boot-systems;) 7. install new os (if it's windows, remove all bloat) 8. install: 8.1. new BIOS 8.2. chipset drivers and all os-specific tweaks 8.3. graphic drivers 9. add one component after the other and repeat: hardware installation - drivers installation - reboot(!) 10. install your apps on the app. partition, put your data on the data partition, leave the sys partition as it is! forget c:\programs! forget c:\<whatever ms wants you to put your files in>!
im currently scetching out the specs for a fanless home entertainment pc. doesn't seem impossible to me to combine the trashy x-box with some mATX-based system... now that would make for a nice box!
could you please explain the "sold my kid" part again?
i really don't get it.
... develop a clone of SinkSub controlled by the vector of your poo?
:)
you know? depth charges...

don't you think, there is something wrong with this?
maybe it's just me, but it doesn't seem quite OK.

have fun!
now if you could explain to us the origin of "Ahhh, Ooooo, Eeeee!" and "erm" the enlightenment would be extraordinary... ;)
...but, who else thought about cheese when reading the headline?
how's it supposed to do that without some sort of autostart-code, which will definitely not run on my machine??
just plain curious...
naaaa! the selling point isn't having sex. we're not talking leisure suite larry here... ;-)
the selling point is committing senseless slaughter on pedestrians while being chased by an angry flock of police cars!! isn't it obvious?
