    Is anyone really surprised?

    Most people see a certificate pop up, even if security features are turned on, and accept it as a matter of course. Most people don't even comprehend the concept of Spyware, the idea that clicking links in spam is a Bad Idea or that wearing a tinfoil hat won't protect you from the alien mind control rays.

    ..that there's something wrong with DARPA's mentality.

    You don't accept substandard results if nobody can produce. This is something you intend to throw massive money on eventually, you'd want the would-be contractors to put up or shut up real quick.

    And the fact that they could charge their own 3rd party developers out the yin-yang for the privelage of using their proprietary cartidges had NOTHING to do with it.

    I wonder if this is a bunch related to the people who somehow predicted, and convinced, the old head of Nintendo that optical media in video games was 'just a fad' back during the N64 design phase.

    Stop looking at the eyecandy.

    Start reading the philosophy in the comics.

    Get a few books on Buddhism, Taoism and Shinto if you have to to start following the themes and messages being related.

    There's more to him than cheesecake.

    I'd really hate to break this to you.. but the term has nothing to do with the character being a postal worker. At some point after the iniital string of postal workers going off the long end of a short pier the term 'Postal' came to mean ANYONE who flipped out for no apparent reason.

    This game is hardly new.

    One of the first things I do when I install Windows on a computer in my office is disable Messenger outright. It's simply not worth the aggrivation of dealing with it.

    Ever since spammers started using it a few years back, it just wasn't worth the nuisance of dealing with it.

    The Ethernet service for UF is administered through the dorms by Division of Housing paid technicians. Under the logic that if the servers are going to be taking up their space, it will be in their budget and under their control.

    The router issue is an old one.. Very old.
