more power as in sometimes I have to turn off iTunes because it starts to skip when I'm IMing someone and NetNewsWire and Mail both fire off at the same time...
my 800MHz G4 laptop does all that and plays older games like Max Payne and WarCraft III and SimCity 4 Edits pictures in Photoshop Edits HTML in Dreamweaver (and SubEthaEdit) Rips CD's (and DVD's)
I've just recently been running into speed problems with iDVD, but once I realized that if I want to burn more than one Disk I should insert the second one immediately, that speed it back up, cutting out the encoding time...
Does that include the sales tax discrepancy? I'd never buy from the Apple store, because the sales tax adds 82.50 per thousand bucks in Texas, which is way more than shipping adds from the resellers, and you can usually get shipping knocked off.
Why shouldn't I be allowed to open my own iTunes compatible store if I wanted? Maybe I just want to sell my own bands songs, and dont want the RIAA/Apple in the middle.
Umm you can... and you can format your songs with AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, or Apple Lossless...
this wouldn't compete with the iBook, it would be a great tool for professors and such in classrooms... It might take some sales away, but if you want the iBook you would buy the iBook
an example of this is that when 10.3 Panther came out they said something like "The spinning Beach-ball of Death shows up 50% less." The way they got that is to not show the beach-ball when a process is not responding unless you try to interact with it... People saw the hung cursor and perceived that the computer was slow, so now they don't see the cursor unless they need to know that the process isn't responding.

yeah, I guess that at this price point the Apple Care is more optional... I'm used to recommending computers that are $1000+ ;-)
I do some programming, some typesetting, edit some sound samples, why should I need more than 1,2 GHz Mac Mini?
You wouldn't I do all that and more (DVD encoding works but is the only thing I do that I would like more power for) on a PB G4 867MHz
you don't need 1 GB for OS X... I would recommend the 512 upgrade though, and definitely get the Apple Care
one bonus is I don't see that damned happy paperclip anywhere in 2004
the only incompatibility I've experienced is that PC's don't have Baskerville
The reason I don't use OpenOffice is the crappy interface... same reason I don't use Gimp... (That and I can **afford** Office and Photoshop)

so 1.25 GHz isn't too bad...
They could just give me a Carbonized version of Word 5.1 and I'd be happy...
for 190 you could end up with a pretty good monitor and keyboard...
you forgot the iBook
I already have much more than 50 GB of Music and 30+ of pictures... And I've only had my camera for a year and 4 months...

...and get Apple to sell you one with a license agreement that allows you to run the OS on non-Apple hardware.
old dad's radio
or

?
you still can, use products like el Gato's EyeTV...

"If you replace "Apple" or "Jobs" with "Microsoft" or "Gates", would you feel the same? "
Pretty much... you would have to replace "Real" to make me feel differently
you are going to have a hard time using it in the box...
well, any of the competitors would, if they had the power
umm... Apple is not an oppressive government
what the crap does "woo" mean?
and Al Gore isn't very happy either...
