In general, my guess is that folks want to be able to see a screen and see things that make it reasonably clear at least where one STARTS navigating the screen.
Otherwise, if it takes too long for too long, you just give up.
Actually it's more that it didn't happen in their backyard. Given that Texas is home to about 1 in 9 people of the USA, well, a lot of folks live in Texas or have friends and relatives who do.
I daresay that to the folks in southeast Asia, hurricane harvey didn't mean a lot to them, either.
If you own gold that is not in your physical possession, it's likely leveraged and 'owned' by multiple people. If everyone wanted delivery you'd find out pretty quick. Remember Germany wanting its money back from the NY fed and being told 'you can't have it for five years?'
And how does paying property taxes 'maintain' the land? That statement is idiotic. If you want to say 'paying property taxes helps maintain roads that get to your land and so on' I could almost agree with you - but in most instances what you pay for taxes if far more than the cost of maintenance of town services.

Seriously! Moar (sic) social spending is the solution to, well... pretty much everything, or so I've been told.
THANK YOU! "Moar" is cretinous. Thanks for adding 'sic'
You're presuming that folks of all stripes are capable of reading, and, more importantly, understanding what they read.
If all someone understands is a sound bite, it's not possible to read.
Very few people in the USA and, increasingly in other advanced countries, can understand what they read so they wait for visual and auditory snippets to tell them what to think.
I was discussing the attempt to remove the veto of European member states to everything/anything, which has been discussed because of 'intransigent Britain' though all member states use it when it suits them.
I agree with you, but some corporate cultures - are very disrespectful. The ones that believe "we move fast and break things!" seem to be the worst of all.
The USA is a constitutional republic, which means we elect representatives to make laws and run the state. We are not a direct democracy - which, 'true' democracies do NOT have bills of rights etc. because the voters can decide ANYTHING.

People who are incapable of getting work are far more likely to reproduce.
I feel your pain, brother.

Even if you own land, you don't own it. Try to avoid paying property taxes, and see how long you will remain 'the owner.'
And exactly what planet are you on? The two parties have policies that are virtually identical.
You don't want to move 1000 miles to deliver pizza? For less than minimum wage? I'm shocked, just shocked I say.
And if you started before age 35, and went through 3 stock market crashes, you begin to realize that the whole thing is..shall we say...a casino?
It wasn't in the 1930s either, but look what happened. 70 million killed.
And as a society we wonder why middle aged people off themselves, or do the next best thing: take antidepressants and become zombies.
But it's exactly what HR does - that, and keep the company from getting sued.

It seems to be ironic that anti-fascists are fascist terrorists, eh?
There was a similar chain in the United States called "Consumers Distributing" that worked like that. I loved it.
If you don't want to be a member of the brave new anti freedom world that's being built, you have to.
It's 1984 - in 2017.

Well, why should the EEC, which started as a TRADE BLOC, have a parliament at all?

But it is, because they don't understand how their own government works. This isn't true only in the USA btw.

We won't talk about real stuff, it's part of the great deflection.

Actually it also means promoting politics that the CEO of the company like, left wing politics in name but autocratic politics in fact.
