Most folks who are of the lefty persuasion seem to think that government is all powerful and should be...prayed to...to get what one wants in life. Saying "The government should do it" is really the equivalent, for them, of saying "OH, G*d, please grant me this boon."

I lived in North Korea to the south for a decade and it's so-so. Vermont DOES have constitutional carry but now at least NH has open carry with no issues. And they have a "shall issue" license.
Income taxes/property taxes/ sales taxes -- you have to get tax revenue somehow I suppose. And property taxes typically mean if you're more well off and have a fancier house you pay more.

(I don't think economic calculations take into account outsourced work,i.e. I have a company that makes widgets with 99% of the manufacture done in Asia but 1% done here so it is 'made in usa.' BIngo, that's US gdp).
When we actually have wage growth and genuinely, not artificially, low unemployment I'll think we aren't in a depression.
