  1. Apples and Persimmons on HP Announces All-Metal Chromebook 13: Thinner Than MacBook Pro, Costs $800 Less · · Score: 5, Insightful

It ought to cost 800 dollar less, it's a Chromebook.

    And an HP.

  2. The fact that sidewalk streetlights have been implemented is a sure sign that not enough Darwin awards are being granted in the world today.

Given the time and a proper amount of texting drivers, this problem will eliminate itself.

  3. So basically a government Kickstarter?

  4. Whatever happened to survival of the fittest?

Let the weak ones die out along with their genetic material, we don't need any more mud in the pond.

I think for terms of accuracy, it should really be the 0.01% or even the 0.001%. Since even 70000 of the richest people in the richest families are the ones causing the biggest issues for this planet.

  6. Global Warming Has Made the Weather Better For Most In US -- For Now

You mean AGW or climate change or whatever they're calling it this week?

The earth's procession around the center of the Milky Way, blah blah blah.

  8. I hope that Gordon's prediction is incorrect, but being in the manufacturing industry and seeing the new hires come and go makes me worry.

The millennials are for the most part lazy and dependent. They can't function without their cell phones and this is inside a plant where cell phones are prohibited except for management and supervisors.

  9. Term is too broad on Phone-Friendly Movie Theaters For Millennials Could Be Reality Soon (variety.com) · · Score: 1

    1988 "Millennial" here.

This time distinction is far too broad, but you can definitely see the depending on cell phones in the past years.

Seems like all these children have become narcissistic. "Everything I do is important and I must share it with the world." No one gives a shit about what you had for breakfast or in this case, what you're doing at a movie theater, besides what should be the obvious.

  17. Point blank. Amazon is a business and businesses have to make money in order to stay a business.

There are lots of items that Amazon sells that I would never personally buy, but that's my choice and I have no right to think I can deny someone else the right to buy something.

    That's just bullshit.

  18. This doesn't effect me at fortunately.

I used to torrent music religiously, but now that I'm older and have a stable income, I try to support the bands I like.

Besides, these asshats that put their music only on specific channels don't make what I'd call music anyway.

  19. I thought something seemed off as it takes 8 minutes for sunlight to reach us and the Sun is 93 Million Miles away.

  20. I think the #1 reason why Linux is still hard to adopt is due to the sheer number of options in the form of Distros. I can think of more Distros of Linux off the top of my head than there are companies that manufacture computers. Alot of these companies are doing great things, but i feel the effort is far to spread out between distributions to make a mark in the market space.

This coupled with the complexity in comparison to Windows and OSX would be enough to drive away almost any casual user.

I don't know what you've been ordering from Amazon, but everything I buy from Amazon arrives at a max 3 days after I place the order.

I order materials multiple times a week over the past 4 years and amazon hasn't let me down once.

Get things that are fulfilled by Amazon and you won't have those 2 week lapses in shipping.

As you no doubt can tell, I'm not typing this from under the sea.

  24. The earth has been processing through Greenhouse and Icehouse stages long before humans ever walked on the planet.

I agree that the climate is changing, and yeah, maybe humans have some influence on how quickly these phases change, but are we going to stop it? No.

With our current level of technology, these phases will continue to happen, no matter what we do.

All we're doing as a species is either slowing down or speeding up the inevitable.

  25. Honestly, I like the binary. I think it should stay......or if it takes up too much room, just convert to hexidecimal and leave it at that.

Bring back the "News for Nerds" mantra.
