Who says there isn't bargain bins in the digitally delivered world? Digitally delivered products will drop in price if no one buys them, just like actual media from a brick-and-mortar store.
Who in their right mind would run a generic Linux instead of OS X?
Maybe because they want a portable workstation. Basically, take the iPod to Workstation-1 and work from there. Then take it home plug it in to your Workstation and keep all your settings, files, etc.
Would it be better if it was a Mac-X booting iPod?
There wouldn't be a problem if more applications had development documents and a method of adding custom plug-ins. You would get the best of both worlds - an off the shelf product with custom functionality.
Back in my intern days I wrote a lot of VB for Application scripts for Word and Excel for an investment firm. They chose Word and Excel in those days because the competition didn't have anything like it at the time.
That's not the problem. The problem is story submissions take forever to make it through.
Slashdot needs a new system, quick. Stories should be moderated too, that way you don't need one of the editors to pass the submission. The slashdot subscribers can see the unmoderated submissions, and after a story gets good enough moderation than it could be read by unsubscribed users. Fark does something similar.
The last few weeks Darl et. al have been bashing PJ as someone who's funded by IBM. We've all thought this was some paranoia generated by SCO to diminiscule PJ's efforts.
But now she is going to run a business that is based on these efforts. In effect, isn't her integrity now affected by the "bottom line." Darl's paranoia machine now has a leg to stand on.
They claim that this is great because you don't have to use the iTunes interface. But the interface to this perl script is horrible. It reminds me how perfect Apple got it the first time.
Remember how Peter Jackson used an iPod as a storage method? This is an example of how an iPod can do more than just be an MP3 player. With a fully customizable operating system with the GNU tools you have no ends of the possibilities.
SCO won't be bought out because they have value. Why spend $60 Million on a company that has no assets? Why spend $60 Million on a company that is in the red and with no plan to return to profitiablity?
Can somone kindly tell me 'why'?

How many sticks of dynamite do I need to blow up a Playstation 3? Sony says 4, but I think they're overhyping again.
I think you meant TC0 (Total Cost of 0wnage)
You forgot
7) Not wireless
1. Any USB/Firewire device
:)
If you're going to do this, you might as well just boot of the USB/Firewire device.
2. Another internal hard drive
You don't know that every PC has 2 internal hard drives. Many outfits run cheap as possible.
3. Any other PC connected through virtually any connection (serial, parallel, cross-over cable, SSH, FTP, etc)
Hmm.. How about USB/Firewire?
4. Floppy!
Have fun with that one!
What if the computer doesn't have a CD-RW drive? I gaurantee it you'll see more PCs with USB ports than you will see PCs with CD-RW drives.
Heck, you'll probably see more PCs with USB ports than you will see PCs with bootable CD-ROMS.
Another day, another bunch "Knoppix is cheaper" posts without any thought.
Hey, here's a question for you who aren't getting it: If you boot up from your Knoppix CD where do you plan on saving your data when you recover?
In case you haven't figured it out, booting from a harddrive/iPod with rescue/live-OS gives you a place to restore your data.

I think we need another civil war so we can get a stronger bill of rights.
Hey, it worked the first time.
I have enough dynamite to blow up 10 super-computers!!!

TotalFark (the fark.com subscription) seems to do pretty well with this model.

???
I only use FireFox and Wells Fargo doesn't give me any problems.
Wow, so I can I steal the BSD TCP/IP stack and license it too?
Is this the same volcano that someone had put a pink toy (or stuffed) dinosouar in front of the camera recently?
Of course these lyrics are out of date since we now have "Bitchin' Water Camaro's" that can drive from the Bahamas....

Not that I care, but... You know.

I hope you're joking.
Where did Rob take credit for this story?
It clearly says aspelling submitted the article.

She is not alone. She said a few times that she is with her "doctor".
SCOX is down 13% today.
