Being able to read mail from other POP-accounts is a quite common feature in web mail applications so it does seem quite probable that GMail will add this too (if it isn't there already).
...in Sweden you only have to enter a certain prefix before you make your call to make it anonymous. This is the way to do it IMHO. Or you can, if you want, tell your phone provider to list your number as secret.
* A mobile phone that can play mp3-files and that have memory to store at least ten songs * A mobile phone service provider where I can pay a fixed amount of money each month for "unlimited" bandwith
That way I could download songs into my mobile phone from my server at home, where I have my whole mp3-collection. I think we are almost there but I know of now mobile phone operators that have this kind of deal. Yet.
Only problem is that they are mosly useless as *ring tones*. I recently bought a Ericsson T630, a phone that has almost all the latest bills and whistles, but one thing that annoys me is that all ring tones suck! They do not ring loud enough for me to heard them. *All* previous phones I have had (different brands) have had ring tones that you could actually heard, but now that they primary use these darn.mid songs, well...
One thing that I do not understand with SPAM like this is: how the hell can the spammers think that I will answer or take action on a mail that is so obvious SPAM? I mean, no serious company would misspell things in the myriad of ways the spammers do. Can someone tell me how the hell these people think?
The number googol is quite easy to visualize on paper, at least the digits. Trying to visualize how much it *really* means is another story. Compare it to the estimated numbers of particles in the universe which is 10 ^ 80 or something like that.
What is even more mind-boggling than a googol is a googolplex, which is 10 ^ 1 googol (10 ^10 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000). That is, a 1 followe by a googol zeroes... Yes, I go crazy too when I think about it!
Apart from googolplex, the highest named number is actually one centillion, which is 10 ^ 600.

Well, yes it is. But the article did not say that it *was* Velcro, it just said is was turbo charged Velcro/Velcro on amfetamine:), probably to be used in totally different places though.
Btw, in Sweden we call this "kardborreband" (kardborre is a flower, look here: http://www.lysator.liu.se/runeberg/nordflor/pics/4.jpg, and "band" means, hmm, eh, band. A quite logical name for it.). Don't know what that flower is called in english but I guess most of you have got one of those stuck in your clothes or on your dog...:)

Tea has the exact same caffeine as in coffee, but most often much less (about 20%). They actually found the caffeince chemical in tea first and called it teine (spelling might be wrong), but because of the great spread of coffee, the name caffeine became the dominant one.
I don't like that penguin, I never have. I love Linux, I love the GPL and I love (?) RMS, but I have *never* liked that damn penguin. I mean, it isn't even cool! That little BSD-demon is MUCH MUCH cooler.
Scientology has even managed to copyright their religious texts
I don't mean to be a wise ass, but you don't have to "manage to copyright" anything if you live in a country that signed the Bern treaty. All creative works, written or expressed in other ways, are automatically copyrighted. Of course, if you put your name somewhere in that work, it will be much more easy to prove though.
Well, maybe you just do not have a need for it. I, on the other hand, have:
In my company (3000+ ppl) we have offices all over the globe. I work in Sweden and have contact with my collegues in Sri Lanka via ICQ or MSN. And I have to tell you, it is great! Nothing beats this for things like brainstorming, asking quick questions, just saying hello etc.
E-mail is good for things you want to archive, or when you want to CC a couple of people because you decided on something important etc etc. IM is great because it does not fill up your imbox, and most often there is a log if you want to find an old message.
Also, "Swedish English" and "Sri Lankan English" are quite different, or at least, it can be hard for us to understand each other over the phone. And of course, the phone bills, don't forget them!
In these times when bicycle Nirvana seems to be as many gears as possible or as hitech gear mechanism as possible I just *have* to post a link something that is the opposite and quite lotech, singlespeed: Singlespeed
I converted about a year ago, I'm on my second singlespeed now (the first one got stolen, wonder if the thiefs were surprised when they came to theur safehouse, or whatever, and discovered that they had stolen a MTB without gears...) and I absolutely will not go back.
I'd paste a link to my own homepage where you can read about my own conversion, but I don't want to risk it being slashdotted. You will probably find it on google (search for singlespeed + muuwiki if you are really interested).
"Linus: I think that's a load of bull. I see all these news reports that say "Hey, we had a chemistry set that computed pi to seven digits!" That's basically what they're doing. They're not doing computing. They're doing pattern matching with DNA. And that's fine. That's what you want to do if what you are matching is DNA, right? But if you actually want to do computation you obviouisly don't want to do this biological solution of stuff and just hoping that the answer will come, right? So I'll believe it when I see it. Until then I'll take transistors. And they'll get smaller. And they'll start getting quantum effects, and that's fine. "
I'll second that. Two years ago I started to ride my bicycle to work EVERY DAY. I'm not a overweight person, I'm quite thin, but I felt bad driving my car the 5km distance to work. Bad for the environment, expensive and bad for my health. Bad bad bad. After I had ben cycling for six months I went from 85 kg (I will *not* convert that to punds for you) to 80 kg. Again, I'm not overweight so I guess for an oveweight person this would affect that person even more.
When I first read the title I expected to see an article about scientists finding signs that as early as 3000 years ago, people was holding "mouse contests", i.e. let two mouses into a little arena and let them to some crazy buddha kick-boxing.
Rough and ready exploit for lsh 1.4.x (other versions ?)

Spawns bindshell on port 45295 of remote host.
I suspect the overflow that this exploits is actually part
of the liboop library that lsh uses... I haven't even looked.
I just wanted to get this out the door to stop all the lsh
lovers crooning about how they weren't getting 0wn3d like
the openssh users might be.
Yes, this 0day is real. Yes, it's pre-authentication.
Handily, it also bypasses non-exec stack protection as the
shellcode is on the heap.
NOTE: This 0day public exploit _only_ works if it's the first
thing to connect to the lshd daemon after it has been started.
Any other time, it is just a DoS. Run it a few times against
a host running lshd to see what I mean.

Are you kidding me? Isn't that censorship? One of the world's largest stores has an incredible power over what the little man is buying.

Is it a coincidence that this weeks eposiode of Smallville was about a major solar flare that disturbed Clark's powers? Spooky!
I heard on the radio the other day that in Great Britain, about twenty people each year get injured using, hold your breath: calculators!
After hearing that, nothing surprises me anymore...
