America didnt and STILL DOESNT have a public health system
America still practices the barbaric practice of execution by electric chair (Don't even get me started on guantanamo bay)
America's gun crime is the highest per capita of any in the world
America's welfare program is hardly fair
Every country larage and small has it's problems, and I wish for one minute that American's would stop pretending they lived in a perfect country, stop dashing off to solve (*cough* create) problems in other countries and take a good long hard look at their own country.
The Weird thing is im sure the "offending code" was only used in high-end smp sytems (and might even have been limited to only one architecture IIRC) so how can they possibly claim that Tivo and other embeded systems which generaly have very simple processors and cut down software are infringing their IP?
Fry: Its not hurting anybody Hermes: My god, He never took middle school hygiene, he never saw the propaganda film Professor: Its just lucky I keep a copy in the VCR at all times
"No thanks Dad, i'd rather make out with my monrobot"
Why not instruct iptables to drop all incomming packets destined for your network, and the you can easily add a rule to allow specific ones as and when you want? its really not that hard to do
I thought that freecraft allowed me to, having bought the warcraft 2 cd, play warcraft 2 (well basicaly warcraft II anyway) under linux/unix, and thus could be considered an ineteroperbility product which I belive the DMCA actualy allows explicitly??
There is almost no such thing as an original game in the games industry today. Almost every game is just an improvment of a basic genre/idea. Im sure it would be possible to trace the origins of most games and genre's back to one common ancestor (Family tree style)
On another, only vaugely related note does anyone know of a script which I can run on my linux firewall/router to provide the following stats:
- Current Bandwidth utilization (like the bar on kernel.org) - Data transfered in total - Data transfered since last reboot - Data transfered in the previous (rolling) 24 hours - The above 3 stats on a per IP address basis
The problem is that as I see it we still need High bandwidth long distance connections for the backhaul (ie transatlantic/transcontiental links, and even between towns/cities). These links arent cheap to install or maintain, and someone's got to pay for it. Until cheap long distance, highbandwidth deregulatted connections are avalible this cant happen. End of story in my opinion
Firstly, testing only lags behind unstable by about 10 days (give or take). In my opinion stable is the rock solid virtualy no fixes choice, testing is best for desktop systems where having XF86 4.2, KDE 3 etc is fairly important and unstable is best left to powerusers, developers and anyone feeling a little adventurous (Although unstable is pretty damm good most of the time)
The best part is the goverment here announced initiatives to make sure every kid's reading, writing and spelling was at average or above... I wonder if that would affect the average at all or not.. Hmm

Why cant they just stick a camera on the ISS itself and be done with it?
That proves exactly why "bender should not be allowed on TV"
kids imitate what they see on tv. its a fact.
The worst bit of simpsons is all those damm cameos in the newer episodes. That and the BBC only ever show about 20 episodes on repeat

That looks pretty good thanks :-)
Might see if I can knock up a patch to make it suit my requirements slightly better over the next week or so
Looks like I might have to write my own solution to do the above (and more) then over the summer :-(

so is there a way for us mortals to download the patch without having gentoo?
I thought that the NVidia drivers were closed? How can that work?
I'll switch to 2.5.x or 2.6.x when the nvidia module works with it.
Yeah, you'd think given his attitude to competition he'd be a big beliver in monotheism
