  1. How about... on How Games And Religion Could Mix · · Score: 2, Funny

A game where you hunt down all forms of religious zelots/fundamentalists, be they christian, muselum, etc... and pop a cap in their ass. You could hunt down the suicide bomber before he blows, or track down the nut before he starts killing at an abortion clinic.

Heck we could even have it Deathrace 2000 style where you just run down all religious types you see when you're driving, like those "two guys on mountain bikes" types... Bonus, if you get them both in one shot.

Wow... this could be a whole new game "GTA: Down Wit' Religion" (pun intended).</sarcasm>

Aside from his earlier C64 work and Llammatron for the Amiga, he's main claim to fame was the infamous Tempest 2000 for the Atari Jaguar. The game frequently also called "the only reason to own a Jaguar". He also did the Virtual Light Machine (spectrum analyzer) for CD playback that was built into the Atari Jaguar CD unit. It was pretty impressive mind you, and was a staple of many a DJ's video arsenal for years afterwards. But, this was really the peak of is his career, and I hate to say it, he's been riding it ever since. His next game Defender 2000 was a pretty sad affair, and just about everything else has either flopped or been canned before being finished.

I met him once at an E3 show and spoke with him for a little bit. A very nice, but peculiar fellow.

In the end though, I'm really torn about this VLM3 business. Amazingly enough Tempest 2000 and the original VLM were so good, that even after all of this time Minter still has come positive credit on his balance sheet, and I'm almost considering this a high selling point for the 360... on the other hand, it so smacks of corporate whoring that I'm disgusted enough to make this another tick against buying it as a protest against Minter for beating a dead horse into mush. If it turns out that the VLM3 does everything that JagCD did and more, then I'll probably soften my stance, but this is all wait and see for me.

    OH what a conflict.

As I mentioned briefly on the N-Scene mailing group... I'll expand more here.

I really don't think this is video of the "Revolution" system at all, I think this is very likely the special "joystick" that was mentioned briefly a month or so back.

Watch the video closely, the video clearly presents this system as a 3-D proximity controller. They always show it on the floor in the middle of the room, and that it is sensitive to someone approaching it.

Also, I don't think this is specifically a Revolution controller either. Notice that it shows in one segment, output supported for TV and some other type of screened device, then in the next segment it shows that it takes input from the GameCube and a "?" device of about the right dimensions of the Revolution concept art that has been floating around.

Also there have been complaints that I have seen about the Mario art at the end, that it either looks like Luigi, or is bad art. Oddly enough, this is the common design for Mario on most PC and Mac based games. I'm not sure what that means, but there is a precedent for Nintendo to illustrate Mario like that.

No, this video is very much in line with something Nintendo would generate and potentially show at a press event, and the fact that it appeared on the net last week is either a testament that Nintendo is attempting to execute a buzz kill on it's competitors announcements... or a very serious security breach has happened within Nintendo.

Personally, what I would like to see is the end of the video, and I'm hoping we get to see it next week.

We play FIVE player games on the Saturn, Turbo Grafx, and PlayStation systems. I would like to play five player games on new my systems if the hardware guys would get their heads out of their asses.

I also hope this wireless crap like the current crop of 3rd party X-Box controllers. I have so much interference in my neighborhood that none of them work reliably (haven't tried the bluetooth ones yet though). On the other hand, my WaveBird controllers have never failed to perform. Hmmm...

I put SCSI in my servers (RAID or otherwise) when I want the box to run for years and years under heavy load and not have to worry about replacing drives regularly.

With SCSI, your paying for the quality control/quality assurance more than anything else.

From what I understand a good SATA drive has the same TTL quality as a good IDE drive, just faster performance.
