I have a 5gb as well. At first I got 10+ hours - after 10 months or so it was down to 22 minutes. I called Apple, sent my iPod in and they sent me a new one.
One thing to note. The original 5gb iPods had a 90 day warranty. They know have a 1 year warranty. Apple was nice enough to grandfather the warranty. If you had the 90 days, you now have the 1 year. Very nice.
Yes, but many people who frequent arcades have parents. Kids these days can sulk for amazing things. Kids walk around with $500 cell phones because they asked their parents to buy them. They have $2000 computers and 2 $500 consoles.
The best salesman a company can have is kids. As an advertiser it's not practical to follow the parents around all day screaming at them to buy your product - kids will do it for free.
I find it odd that you'd have to tilt your laptop screen. I have a Dell Inspiron froma year ago that has a pretty shitty screen. Since I bought it Dell has supposedly introduced the UltraSharp LCD screens which have an amazing quality to them. I currently use a 15.2 inch powerbook (867Mhz) and have no problems with the screen. A horrible estimate of trying to read the text in this post - I'd say a 160 degree viewing angle - still being able to read the text.
Although I haven't seen the Dell UltraSharp LCD screen I would expect they'd be compared to the LCD screens found in Apple laptops (except the 12 inch powerbook - they put shitty ones in those from what I hear).
If OLED screens are *so* much better than my current LCD I can't wait to see what's in store.
The problem was both Opera v6 and v7 rendered the page that was sent to Internet Explorer browsers perfectly. Opera v7 renders the page that was sent to v6 just fine. The only thing that can't be rendered properly is a special page that is only sent to Opera v7 browsers that aligns elements by -34pts.
Opera wasn't broken yet MS decided it needed to be fixed (as is fixing a cat).

Yes I do lug it everywhere. I'm an Engineering student during the week and 2nd level tech support on weekends. I use my laptop seven days a week. It's only 5.4 lbs. It also lets me do most of my work where I want to - not stuck at home or in a lab. I prefer to work in a cafe or coffee shop.

Wow, I find it to be exactly opposite to what you've said.
(Disclaimer: I'm Canadian)
I use debit all the time. Occasionally I will take out $100 to keep in my wallet for little purchases. In most cases I consider this $100 a write off. To get $100 from an ATM I would get five $20's. I'd buy a Pita for $7 (with drink) and get a $10 plus change ($2 coin remember). I'd go and buy a CD for $23. I'd use a $20 and a $10 and I'd get a bunch of change left over (in many cases I'll get $8-$9 in all change).
I find that I spend change much easier than paper or debit. I'll blow $10 in change at an arcade very easily. I won't go to an arcade and break a $10 just to play a couple of games.
If I don't have cash on me then I am much less likely to purchase items under $10.
As for knowing how much money I have. I do all my banking online. I have my laptop and a net connection anywhere I go. It's easier for me to find an open lan connection (wireless access points are showing up in malls) to check my account than it is to find an ATM and stand in line to check a balance.
Actually, I wouldn't even dare to touch a Mac because of the LC III's that we had to use for programming in Think Pascal. We didn't even have colour like all the other schools did (they used PCs). [Note: This was less than 6 years ago]
If it wasn't for Mac OS X I would likely still be afraid of Macs thanks to a good schooling.
Actually, using/dev/zero is a better idea. Using/dev/urandom you never know, you may randomly get a Metallica song and then you're screwed. Not only will the hard drive contain illegal items but Metallica will ban you from ever using/dev/urandom again.
(Sorry, still bitter for getting kicked off of Napster the same day I bought a $40 Metallica CD that I had also downloaded)...

I've learned a lot of things that way. I probably haven't learned them correctly or as well as I should but it has helped.
Good luck to you!
On a more related note I do remember a very good resource on VAX/VMS security. I can't find it now but it was along the lines of how to hack a Vax. it outlined a lot of security issues and how it differs from the Unix world.

Yes, yes it is. You aren't supposed to preview your posting.
Although I'm an avid mac fac I always thought the glowing apple on the back of the LCD screen would be a bad thing in the field.

No, but I can lend my car to a friend. And if I get a new muffler I don't have to go take my driving test again.

what is it about intelligence and the desire to blow things up?
Oh no, you're wrong. Blowing things up is a univerisal love of all humans. It's just the un-intelligent ones only do it once.
No, but it should be built on a BSDish *nix ala OS X. Heck, MS could even use Darwin - wouldn't that be an interesting turn of events
That would be funny. Both Apple and Windows based on BSD. Do you supposed if that day ever arrived the "BSD is dying" posts would stop?
Can't imagine BSD dying if it had 95% of the market.

Sorry, didn't mean to troll. I didn't notice the earlier comment.
Just thought the arguement "It's stupid." followed by "You should really say why it's stupid. BTW, I think it's stupid."
Was ammusing.
Just reminded me of an old high school English teacher telling me to give further explaination on a paragrpah but couldn't explain any more herself.
I can't help noticing that you also don't mention why you think it's stupid. That's funny.
Next time a cell phone distracts you in a theater you might not have a problem with it!
Specialy if your force to watch "Maid in New York" or something by you girlfriend|wife.
I would think that ones girlfriend/wife may have a problem with you sitting beside them in the theatre watching porn instead of "Maid in Manhatten".
To conclude:

PIC == Good
That has got to be the worst start of a possible flame war that I've heard in quite some time. It's worse than the Picard verus Kirk wars...
