This comment further down mentions this link which has some good information on the subject. I definitely have observed the illusion of thinking I'm going downhill visually, but my legs (when on a bicycle) or my car engine tell a different story.
I've been there and seen it. I was just a kid then, but it sure LOOKED real, in the way that they describe; people walking away from you appear to get taller depending on which way they walk. Even if it is just an illusion, it's probably worth going just for the fun of it. I'd love to go back there with my own level. They probably wouldn't allow it in, though.
The abbreviation 'i.e.' does NOT mean 'for example.' If you want 'for example', use 'e.g.'
I always thought it was the other way around - that 'i.e.' stood for something like 'in exampli' and people just used 'e.g.' incorrectly because it looked/sounded like 'example' or 'eggzample' (not intended as a pun, just that people don't know how to spell).
According to Dictionary.com, you are right. So I was mistaken. Thanks for the help!
Whaaaa?? I say in incredulous confusion, as I type this from a 333MHz iMac running - not in a way that I would call "poorly" - Mac OS 10.2.8. Though maybe it runs poorly for you in some way that I am not aware.
I watched the original, and I couldn't get past the first 5 minutes of the new one - not because it was different from the original - but because it was f'ing stupid. They're supposed to be having this special 'treaty' meeting, or something, and the woman (presumably cylon in human form) starts the meeting by sitting on his lap! I said to my self, "I she kisses him next, I'm outta here!" I want those 5 minutes back Sci-Fi!
Second, we are only now seeing anything other than a linear track of audio that plays.
This is hardly a new concept. Pitfall II did this. It had 4 separate "tunes". I can think of Nintendo games that did this, like Super Mario Bros (grab the star). Overall though, you have a point.
Why don't more games do that? Because it's a hard design problem. The real issue isn't the games themselves, it's that the market as it is today puts an emphasis on flash, hype, and marketing, not solid gameplay. Brilliantly designed games will remain rare exceptions, just as brilliant movies are the exceptions in Hollywood. Really, the game industry is evolving towards Hollywood very quickly.
It is important to note that brilliant ANYTHING is the exception. This is not anything particular to Hollywood, life is just like that.
my school had a $1 charge per credit hour, that went to a scholarship fund for minority students. nobody bothered to ever ask about it. so i decided to ask, and the school said it went to black and hispanic students to pay their tuition. i had to work a job while in college. i told them i did not want to pay that fee, and they looked at me like i was a racist. why don't they not automatically charge those fees but ask if you are interested in contributing instead.
Anyone that would expect someone to give money based on skin color (of the "donor" and/or recipient) is the real racist.
Speaking of Slashdot/gecko bugs, any of you Macintosh users users have to turn off "willing to moderate" because it locks up whenever you have mod-points?
This only works for AFP, though; not logging into the workstatsion (console), not SSH. At least with OS 10.2. I suppose this might have been added in Panther (10.3).
You can unlock the screen saver with the admin username and password, no matter what account is logged in to the desktop. Unlike the AFP service, you can't unlock the screen saver with the non-admin username and admin password.
Where is that option? Is it only on OS X Server, or Panther? I didn't see it on my (Non-server) Jaguar system. I don't really need to turn it off, though.
I didn't see it the first time either. I couldn't find the price at all so I clicked on this image that said "buy credits" (oblivious to the part of the image that said 25 cents) and got to that page.
What I want to know is how we know that they really got the OK from Atari to do this. Their site seems to be sincere, but lacking in information overall.
I agree with you. Just when I was REALLY starting to like Apple, they have to do this. I must add that I cannot purchase any Apple products -in good conscience- under the current circumstances. I will be writing some complaint (not bitching) letters, and will encourage others to at least try to explain to Apple why this is a bad idea whether you like Al Gore or not. Does anyone have any *heplful* suggestions as to what a dis-illusioned almost Apple zealot could do about this?
Trying to view the linked article or any of the mirrors crashes both Mozilla 1.0 and Opera 6.0 on my machine (Linux w/ Ximian Gnome 1.4).
Yeah, did the same thing to me with Mozilla on Mac OS X. IE showed it fine. Mozilla on MS Windows didn't care for it too much eaither (but didn't crash).

Of course not, that's what walkie talkies are for! ;)
What's the easiest way to do your part in helping Apple reach 100 Million Songs?

Yes.
Strip solitare!

I have verified this with OS X 10.2 "Client" running AFP. It only works for AFP as far as I can see, as it does not apply SSH.
Where did you mention this in the review? I didn't notice it. I'm not trying to be a jerk jere, but I honestly couldn't find it.
Let me guess ... "that word" = "is".
You mean like when it's OK to attack Iraq when Clinton says it, but not when Bush says it? Face it, everywhere you go, people are self-serving.
How come it is an Evil Lie when Bush says it, but not when Clinton does? "Saddam (Hussein) must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons," Clinton said.

Offer discounts to the people who are interested in buying several games rather than one or two. That comes out to $134 for the whole set.

It's not illegal so long as you notify them that the call is being recorded. Ever hear that message, "this call may be recorded"?
