Dont be fooled, the corporations and governments will craft legislation to give them all the power they want to collect all the data they want, think: national security.
What Privacy Acts really do, In countries like Canada, is protect the governments and protect the corporations. its so simple "sorry we cant release that information because it would violate the persons privacy"
Executives, Politicians, Middle Managers, Bureaucrats, they are all people too, they all have a right to privacy, right? customer complaints, federal suits, "sorry, we cant release those, privacy" This happens all the time to Canadian media.
It should come to no surprise to any one that there are 3.2 Million people in North America that will be buying these TV's Think about all those douchebags, jersey shore fans, non tech people, and guys that just want to show off to the Jones's next door. I do not think any one is worried about these tv's not selling this holiday season.
I'll attest to this, I had a bright CS future ahead of me, working at Compaq, moved on to IBM and Microsoft in the big city, but I kept loosing jobs to India. Then I realized that if wanted to stay in the CS game it meant more time more money to getting more skills, certs, pieces of paper.
A "A continuously changing professional knowledge baggage is not attractive" well.. it is for some people, thats what separates the people that LOVE CS, and those that like it or are good at it. I packed up my bags 4 years and went off to University to learn about history and poli-sci, (i want a government job) thats what I am passionate about, computers for me were just a hobby that paid the bills.
two months ago i bought a Thinkpad T61 it came with 2 gigs of Ram and Vista Ultimate.
Being a daily slashdot reader i knew that 4 gigs was the "sweet spot" silly me, i thought that Vista would still work. I spent 6 hours trying to printer share from Vista to XP. I spent 3-4 hours reading forums and turning off all the crap services in hopes of speeding it up. I finally gave up and this very minute I am installing XP recovery CD's thankfully given to me from IBM.
My harddrive light never went off in Vista, it was always blinking. When i called IBM to complain they said to buy more ram. Of course the damn thing came with 2 slots each filled with 1 gig sticks, now WTF aim i supposed to do with thoes when i go out and buy two 2 gig sticks? what a waste of fucking money. and then said that SP1 wasnt coming out till 2008.
My Theory 1- MS did this in purpose. 2- This is, or should be, criminal.
Thats the key phrase, right there. who hasn't broken some law or another?
For those people that dont care about CCTV and Orwellian ideas that they have in Britain because they dont think of themselvs as a criminal, Think Again.
In Singapore chewing gum and spitting are crimes Speeding is a crime, not using your turn signals is a crime Books and CD's have been banned in schools Trans Fat is illegal in some cities
And it works both ways, Republicans or Democrats, Left or Right. What if gun were banned? Missed Child Payments what if using a racial slur was a criminal offense Getting angry and making a threat. Vengeful Neighbours Banning certain music or concerts dances clothes its goes on and on and on
Sadly, its not to hard to imagine.
Once the goverment gots you, the GOT you, your in the system. good luck trying to fly good luck renewing your license (Driving, Hunting, Practicing whatever...) good luck getting a job or a mortgage
how much time is being wasted by the FBI when investigative man power could be directed more effectively at more pressing issues./i?
some times.. at night, i like to close my eyes, i like to pretend that, say a few years ago, the FBI didnt waste an inordinate amount of man hours (thousands) trying to find a stain on this mythical blue dress.
i like ti imagine that instead of wasting that time they tracked down a few very bad men who where learning to fly in florida. i dont think that would have been such a waste of time
then i dream and imagine that the past 8 years never happened.
i did that, had a small mech or a helicopter loaded with nothing but machine gun ammo, sprint behind enemy lines, role for reactor critical, with the rules on splash damage,
I'm on my 3rd MP3 player now The other two ive junked because of shitty support Tip: When buying something like this, BUY BRAND NAME, or accept the fact that it could be junk in 3 months I'm currently using the Creative Nuvo, it has a display, custom equalizer, FM, it rips/encodes from a line in (ie. the analog hole) and best of all it has great north american support and a company name to back it up. the other 2 players had no name companies that just re-directed you to the korean company that made the chipset, and all the korean company had was a flash update and a japanese word document for windows 98/ME
I spent 2 hours commuting EVERY DAY and i allready feel thoes are wasted hours of my life, if i was using public transport i could be reading. i have an MP3/WMA/CD player in my car (really nice but affordable JVC)
i would love LOVE LOVE to listen to say.. A brief history of time, or the dune books or something like that on an MP3/CD
any by saying LOVE.. i do mean $$$PAY$$$ $40 a book?
this was a very hardcore crowd. Real gamers here to play, and talk about the games they love and hate. It's not about marketing or dollars, just about passion, and that makes for a far more fun weekend.

I dont like and aim opposed to ideas such as Valves Steam or EAOnline, call me old fashion but i like having something in my hand when i pay for it.
CD's make a great distribution medium.
i was suprised as well, thats pretty cool, makes me want to buy something from an American user, encourage Canadian tourism.
