The chip being previewed here is the server edition. You'll be wanting to look at the Phenoms, which are apparently being previewed tomorrow on Tech ARP
You don't need to go through the file associations menu to change what apps open what.
Right click a file of the type you want to change, choose Open With and make sure you tick Always Open Files of This Type With.. option
Programs will always steal the file types, because they play them and you specifically chose to download and install it, therefore you want it to work.
Simpler way would be to stop clicking blindly through an installation, that's a good way to get crap on your system you don't want or need..;)
Having seen the dismal state of the drivers for my Audigy (1!) it seems I might give the onboard a go - Realtek have even put out 64bit drivers for it!
If the Realtek drivers present themselves in the same way as Creatives do, from the sounds of what you're trying to achieve, you go to Playback devices (from Sounds in control panel) and change the analogue out from default to the digital out.. Then new programs pick up the setting and they use whichever!
If you really did deliver a hand written request to a teller, then after that ordeal I would have closed/moved my account stating that if they can lose letters, I wouldn't trust them to deal with my cheques either.
their DRM scheme either becomes a publicity nightmare (like Sony's rootkit)
By which time the company that created the DRM will have received their payment and have already laughed all the way to the bank
or it gets cracked very shortly after it's released and all those months (or years) of research and development are for naught, forcing them to start over again from scratch.
Likewise as before, the company will have received their payment, and probably have been hard at work on the next iteration ready for the company whose product they were protecting to ask "what about the next generation?":)
And, now there's a battle brewing over the appropriate codec? Again, WTH? So now we have 2 competing hardware formats, and at least 2 codecs? Are the studios going to ship with a version of each codec? Are all of our players going to be compatible (sans firmware hoops)?
There's three (video) codecs, and yes, for a unit to be bluray/hddvd compatible it has to support them all. hddvd units have to have two decompressors, also.
Being a libertarian, of course, I'm all for dropping all those freebies (and slashing everybody's taxes to make up for it) and then letting anybody marry anybody or anything they choose... but alas, libertarian nut-jobs like me never get elected to anything.
Hey, I'd vote for you! Those sound like some good policies to me:)
Sounds a bit like a forced DKIM combined with TLS to me?
But until we get forcefields to protect against bird strikes at 10000mph, don't expect to see it in passenger jets any time soon.
Well, the server version uses Socket F, the desktops will use AM2/AM2+
;)
But since you have a Cell system, I guess you're not too worried about upgrade paths

That's why you get a controller that stores the config on the disks, not itself
:)
Not quite as portable as software RAID, but works just as well

So what sound card did you get?

scamming(scammers--)++
Oh, somebody always wins with DRM.
The companies that create DRM schemes, of course!
Then get a decent distro that manages the nVidia drivers and it won't.
But how would the lawyers make their millions in that trial? :)
I'm curious.. What happened?

Try the samsung r7 range. MS uses them in the X360 demo booths here in the UK. They look great! :)
I'm planning on getting one soonish, once I get paid for all the recent overtime. The only downside to them is they only have 1 HDMI port, but meh!
Generally its the target that causes them to stop :)
Weapons don't need to stop..

This book will be there as a PDF in a few months, or you can buy it in dead tree format now.
Other books are also linked there.
For one machine, yeah, no problem.
For 10 machines? 50? 100? 500? No thanks.

You could always try running the apps under Citrix, publishing the applications..?
Because it's unproven, not *actually* available now and there's no laptop/low power version even planned??
