    It's not hard to write your own ftp client. Computers still do what you tell them to do if you rely on your own code instead of third party code.

    But yeah, this whole "telemetry" thing needs to legislated against. Specially now that bandwidth caps are gaining teeth.

  13. I want all providers to be locked to the same standard.

    If I was dumb enough to have the top package that comcast offers at the top speed - they should be limited by the cap they have on their lowest speed.

    They should also be forced to charge the same "internet only" price to their customers that have cable television in addition to the cable TV only charges.

    Finally, they should be forced to offer cable tv only at those same prices.

    At that point cord cutters won't be forced to subsidize cable tv.

  17. A jumper can make a switch, but isn't a switch, it's a jumper that connects two or more terminals together. If it was a switch, it never would of been called a jumper.

    Next you'll be telling a fuse is a switch. You know, because it switches something on.

    And the motherboards didn't have anything baked into them because of hackers.

    There were no switches. Unless you are talking about the jumpers so you should of said jumpers to actually prove what you were talking about. There were no internet based hacks that required jumper use to repair in the 1990's.

    And then there was the giant wrestling thing with the ships core - which Galaxy Quest Firmly slapped down years earlier because the whole notion was stupid.

    Before the reboot it was awesome.

    I even have books that most trekkers don't know about like "Spock Must Die".

    After the reboot, having kirk and spock looking longingly at each other and Uhura emerging as a the true power in the ship just makes me hope that trek passes away.

    I'm good friends with Mike Brown, owner of Minnie Joe's in Richton Park IL. Look him up on facebook and you'll catch a couple of glimpses of me.

    If I go on vacation I'd hand him the keys to my house and ask him to take care of my dog while I was gone.

    If someone over the web asked to do the same and her name (and this is an actual name of a person working as a cashier at the local walmart) was Cashamonet I'd not think twice about rejecting her because any parent that did that to a child was most likely on the dole, illiterate, and just plain stupid. How much of a chance is there that she fell far enough from the tree to be trusted?

    Blame the parent that set them up for failure.
