Actually - the arranty worked for me - Bought a kodak camera that after a year wouldn't charge the battery in the docking station anymore - Brought the extended warrenty in, brought the camera in, and the base for it - was upgraded from the 4000 series to the 6000 series, recieved a new base, an extra battery, and an instore rebate of 28.00 since the new docking station had a lower retail price than the older one. I still have two years left on the warrenty, and am actually hoping the camera breaks again...;)

Nice - until Storms Blow thru and knock out the air conditioning, which short out the backup airconditioning, and having the server room heat to over 120 degrees, causing the machine doing all the emulation to lose three of the drives on the raid.
Which is what happened to us overnight in Illinois. Makes me wish that at least some of our stuff was in the old server room on old machines serving up stuff faithfully.
Lately I've been thinking about moving to linux to check it out - Gaming is still important to me , but I'm sorta interested to see how linux has evolved in the past 5 years since I last tried linux - and burned up a monitor since I didn't know what I was doing.
With that said - the big thing that puts me off from trying Linux (apart from switiching gears) is this "BSOD" reference from folks that are trying to tell me that their software is better.
Before you mod this "flamebait" just listen for a moment. I've been working as a programmer, and have used win 2k pro extensively over the past five years on at least 7 different machines. The only time I got a BSOD was on a Western Digital Hard Drive failure.
When I see someone tell me that their software will free me from the "BSOD" - I can't help thinking that they haven't seen or used win2k - or haven't configured their installations properly - and they are trying to tell me "Linux is Better" based off of 95/98/ME or poor computing practices.
And while that certainly is most likely the case that Linux is Better- I'd like an honest comparison on how it fares against 2kpro? Honestly - if you want to convert folks over to Linux - Do it positively - Tell me what's good about Linux - Don't tell me what's bad with windows - I know what's bad with windows and a Linux guy telling me what's bad with windows will get an eyeroll from me, and will outright be dismissed from conversation if they mistate or are erroneous on the latest platform.
Campaigns based on Negativity are self defeating. They won't sway the extremes, but they will force the fence sitters away from moving to the negative side. I want to know what I will gain. I want to know why it's right for me. Tell me the good parts and how and why they are so good.
But above all, Please - Drop the "BSOD" it left with Windows ME.

Seasonal Blends? Why the extremists in the Global Warming Community gave 4 summer blends to Illinois - and all of them are made in the western states (and we have refineries just outside of Chicago).

Course - they're also less fuel efficient than the winter blends - so the trade off is slightly better emissions, but in the negatives since we have to burn more gas to get there (so in all actuality - We're doing more damage to the environment.).

I've been really pissed off at the recording industry - it came to a boil point when I had all of the albums enigma produced - so I was going to forgo the "Greatest Hits" cd.
To my rage they had a song on the greatist hits album that wasn't freaking released on any other cd.
I've never heard the song - nor will I purchase another cd for the low underhanded method of trying to get me to rebuy songs I already purchased for the new song.
the industry knows that the writing is on the wall - they are desperately trying to force the the old ways of raping the customers to make a profit on us.
Unfortunately - we're all going to suffer since Piracy will continue, and the legislation to "protect" the industry will likely force major changes on the way the web works.

When I lived at my old house my mileage was pretty cool - I pulled about 600 miles a week on a tank and a half of gas.
I moved close to work and gas mileage changed - I only pull about 82 miles a week - but I fill up every 15 days now.
For some reason my car is burning a lot more fuel driving a few miles with some lights, as opposed to the long haul I did on country roads.
Literally - Doing 60 miles on a commute in a day burns less gas than 18 miles thru some neighborhoods.
