No it's not just you. I like the security that comes with a wired network, and my company does too, seeing how it is policy to keep the wireless hardware disabled.
Playing Avril Lavigne's Don't Tell Me 109 times in a week. Thats 15 times a day or a little over once every two hours.
I'd like to think that this practice would end if your played a song 100 in a week. I think a radio station where I live played "Your body is a wonderland" and "Lullaby" enough to set a few records as well.
Where to begin.... I'm so glad we have so many traffic experts on/. the point is the traffic laws passed by people we or previous generations voted for are the rules. If the sign says stop then stop, its really quite simple, stop. That way their isn't a gray area... oh well it's Tuesday at 3:15 am and the nearest car opposing me is almost 3000 feet away I think it's okay for me to just slow down instead of making a complete stop.
If the sign says 35mph then don't go 40 and complain that you were only speeding a little. Man, it's not like they don't tell you what the rules are, they are on big freaking signs that you have to be able to comprehend when you take your test.
Look if it's a stop sign you stop, if you don't like the traffic laws get out and walk, or better yet walk to your polling location and vote for a change.
How quickly we forget that (in the sates at least) driving is a privilege not a right.
I'm also glad we have experts that know all the stuff police officers do and why, look the fact is they answer to the citizens and often citizens in a community will complain to the city government that people are running a stop sign at X or are speeding through their quite sub-division or are disturbing the peace by blasting their music, which means the police will respond.
Furthermore I don't know of any police officers that don't consider DUI a big deal, if they see it they'll pull the person over, trust me they have had to deal with the results of DUI all to often.
They can't be everywhere all the time. If you think someone is driving in a unsafe manor, (by the way running a stop sign is also unsafe, not insignificant like you said, a driver running a stop sign almost killed my father) call the local police dept and call tell them, if you have a cell phone, they might be able to respond quickly enough to get the person your concerned about.
If you can't play by the rules they don't play.
Between the "tinfoil hat" crowd and the "experts" I'm quickly losing the ability to stomach half stuff people post on/.
I agree with never, why would/should tehy from a business point of view, if subscription is up and looks like it will continue to go up they'd be stupid to lower the price, what I see is dial up lowering it's price maybe, but not broadband.
Something like this happened at my company with the direct deposit so I understand you situation but shouldn't you have made sure that you had the money in the account before you wrote the check?
I know it's a common practice to float a check, you take in to account that the check will take X days via us mail, it will then take x days to post, my paycheck will go in to my account in X - y days so I'll be fine.
Just because it's common practice doesn't make it right. At some point you have to take responsibility, you singed your name to that check and said that at from the date on this check forward I have the funds in my account to cover it.
I'm not trying to be an troll or anything, I just think that you share a part of the blame for your checks bouncing.
The more and more I think about it the more I feel the need for/. to have a "-1 tinfoil-hat" rating. This is not directed at the parent directly ut has been an idea I have been thinking about for a long time, this post just brought it to a head.
"Isn't it in your mechanic's interest to conveniently have that irritating-yet-not-telling-you-anything check engine light go on, so you have to bring it back to be inspected for $75?"
Maybe I'm missing your point (as I often do) but if your check engine light is on don't take it to get the emmision inspection until the light problem is resolved.
This goes back to finding a mechanic you can trust. This hasn't changed any because of technology, their have always been honest and dishonest mechanics. Find a good one and stick with it. Maybe a little self education is good too.
In theory this is a good application for Distributed Computing. I doubt it would ever happen in practice. Maybe for an indie but not for Pixar. The funny part would be someone hacking one of the scene and throwing something else in in it's place. Kinda like the part from Fight club.
True, but I did meeting a girl that lived in that dorm that I ended up dating. So it all worked out. But I totally agreed I have never dated a girls computer I fixed. For a while in high school I deluded myself in to thinking it would happen. After I clued in I still fixed them just to be nice, that and I hated seeing people get ripped off by taking their machine to a computer repair store.
Back in my dorms days I got rep from an all female dorm that I could quicly set up thier PC's to use the college network instead of the dialup they were all used to using at home.
Anyway I ended up troubleshooting problems for some of them for two semesters, which didn't bother me(see section about "all female dorm")
Turns out two of the girls pc's that I fixed very spotted in an episode of Girls Gone Wild.
{funny = on} I'm sorry did I miss something, you searched/. for sports information? Did you forget we are nerds not nuts(as in sports nut). Is there a News for Nuts site, I don't know and quite frankly I don't care.
Remember we are nerds we Hate:

These posts make it seem like people who do get a degree from a higher education source are some how doomed to fail.
IMHO the reason you hear about people like Bill Gates is because they are the exception not the rule. It's a story of success over odds and people love that stuff, gives 'em hope.
What about all the advances made by people who did get a higher education. How many advanced medical procedures come out of some college dropout that was working in his parents basement.
Do you need to go to college to be successful, no. Does it help, yes.
I got the job with the company I work for because I had a degree, granted did any of the information I learned in my Java classes help me when I got here, not really, but my internship sure did. The degree just got me in the door. If I can't perform, I'm out.
I don't think that I am worse off because I got a degree, I don't think people who don't have a degree either. The goal is still the same it's just that the path will be a little different.
the same group that gave us this site[talked about by this slashdot story] posted a while back where you could do a search on your screen name to see if you were on the RIAA hitlist...
Insurance companies offer all sorts of discounts if you qualify.
At Allstate I have/had Safe drive and good discounts.
They also give you breaks if you have safety features such as Antilock breaks and theft deterrent systems, such as reinforced ignition plates(not sure of the name, but you get the idea) The lower your rate when you pass a certain age, if you a Guy.
Granted you can look at it as a cup half-empty/half-full thing. But the fact is there are many different rates in auto insurance.
Seriously though, how smart is it to A)make it bigger and hence different and B)put equipment on there that isn't needed to test it out.
Would it not be smarter to stick with on rocket and test and refine it to get it to work a couple of times then spend the money for the fancy broadcasting equipment...
So Microsoft will be distrubuting a new flavor of linux?
No it's not just you.
I like the security that comes with a wired network, and my company does too, seeing how it is policy to keep the wireless hardware disabled.
I think WiFi has it's place, just not with me.
It's not uncommon here in teh states either.

Terrorist have marked all movie theaters, concerts libraries and classrooms as potential targets.
If they can make the reflectors like Mystery Tiles From Around the World[previous story] they'd be around for a long time.
