    I gaurantee this hacking school will attract a lot of genuine soon-to-be kiddies and nothing but negative exposure for the school itself. As everyone here is saying, they seem to be teaching more of a cracking style than hacking or security. I would seek out a more reputable source of education if I wanted to learn more than "the fine art of breaking into systems". Security education at @stake just doesn't compare to the quality you get at Xintra. You're not going to go to fast-food for gourmet.

    Some laptops (such as IBM's) have a more secure BIOS password system that can't just be jumpered away. If you forget the password, you have to replace the systemboard.

    Actually, there is a default password that always works with IBM laptops so that replacement of the systemboard never becomes necessary. I just cannot tell you this default password...

    I welcome anything new from Matt Groening. The Simpsons is still the ultimate classic, despite its similarities with CmdrTaco.

    I am still missing the discussions of the decoding the alien alphabets at The Futurama Outlet (content has been down for some time). Does anyone know of any other forums where this is being discussed? Is anyone even following me here?

    You are trying to say that GCN is the fastest selling of _just_ the next gen systems and trying to bash the poster. Well, your wrong on both counts. Quoting the article you read:

    "To have outpaced any other videogame console launch ever would be notable in its own right, but to accomplish this under the current economic conditions is truly remarkable."

    I would take that to mean that it _is_ the fastest selling console in history. You could also have read the post where a link was given to the actual press release where they also confirm the same thing. No media source is rearranging things as you say. Really.

    The link is already slashdotted. I couldn't find a cache on Google. Here is an alternative link to another gutting of the Gamecube. All this Gamecube gutting reminds me of Ben Heckendorn's next project at VCSp to make the Gamecube into a portable... watch for it.

    I remember seeing plots of moon land for sale on eBay about 1.5 years ago. These were plots of land as large as 500-1000 acres. I wonder when territorial rights disputes on the moon will start happening. This is an opportunity for people to start building more micronations, I would hope.

    I like. It can be a great spy tool (make a display page that looks like a common digital), you'll always have it with you when you go "f$ck %!@#* I wish I had a camera", and even for a spontaneous go at a "rock-paper-scissors" game amongst friends. I really think that I want to hack this so that it can play Pac-Man. Remember those Pac-Man watches they used to have!?

    I know this may be the first time that someone has sucessfully installed a video camera inside a rugby ball, but haven't video cameras that are miniature, lightweight, and durable been around for SOME time now? What about football (American) helmet cams? Do a search anywhere for miniature video cameras. It just doesn't seem like that great of a technological feat...

    With a price this low for a decent console, making portable units is a very economical hack. We might be seeing this very soon over at Ben Heckendorn's Atari 2600 Portables Site, although his next confirmed project is a Gamecube portable.

    The Gamecube _does_ have add-on components for dial-up and broadband connectivity. I think it's smart to have these features as an add-on for everyone who may/not want a wired box. This has been announced for some time now:

    The 11 Mbit connection I have running on 802.11b for laptops in my home is terrible for anything but telneting and casual browsing. I would welcome anything that could bring my speeds up close to a _normal_ 10/100 LAN. Wireless is great so that I don't have to retrofit my place with conduit for wire replacement, but if I mp3s can't even be streamed, well...

    I recently shipped around $3000 worth of electronic music equipment from Boston to Sweden using UPS International. I went out and bought a _lot_ of comforters at a local thrift sotre and packed the boxes so they would bounce (literally). My packages arrived in pristine condition (although 1 month late), and the best part is, UPS somehow managed to _forget_ to charge me the $350 shipping fee. Thanks UPS!

    I will agree that UPS is a less-than-par shipping servicve. From looking at the pictures, however, I really don't see a great packing job. I do see a alot of damage. The boxes are huge, and look like they full of air on many sides.

    If I were ever in need of shipping my boxen, I would make sure that they were not packed like these were. Smaller boxes, more padding.
