    I have to just quick agree with you. My five year old son knows how to use Gentoo/KDE better than he knows how to use Windows (or the old Mac at his pre school). It's what I use so that's what he's grown most experience with.

    Granted he doesn't really know anything about "system administration" and all that stuff, but the point is that he's very familiar with "Daddy's Computer" and knows how to mount cd's and launch cedega (WineX) to get Jedi Academy running and knows how to get to Playhouse Disney, and all that sort of thing.

    I use Linux Web Host. I've been with them for 4 or 5 years now. Web mail, distribution lists, spam protection, multiple users, etc. The prices are really cheap too. (plus all the usual Web Host pluses - SQL access, Frontpage extentions (if that's your thing), passwording directories, hosting PGP keys, SSH access, etc. the list goes on and on)

    No, I don't work for them, I'm just a user and have been very happy with the service for quite a few years.

    True. That's a good point, and one I agree with. I was just pointing out that you filled out most of the same info for this site that you would for the NYTimes. Yes, OK, their "survey" is a bit more intrusive than /.'s, and you've proven (as have others) that there's ways around it.

    Hmmm... I'm starting to contradict myself. I should quit while I'm ahead...

    Shit... Sorry... I should've added that I have a Gig of RAM and an nVidia GF4-ti-4600. This is a a very worthy "gaming" machine, I just need to know if I can play this game or not.

    OK, I have to ask since I haven't seen it posted yet.

    Are there Linux binaries included on the install CD? Am I going to have to run this "under" WineX (cedega)? I *really* want this game (and I've given id my money since the Wolf3d days...). The Windows machine I have back here have a VooDoo3 card in it - it can't run this (it's barely running Lego Racers 2).

    This box is heavy duty, but only runs Linux:

    $ uname -a

    This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I have a cell phone for emergencies (and general communication). If my Son gets run over and his Mom is calling me from a hospital, your idea means I'd never know about when she tried calling. There's no way to type in all the possible numbers of someone / ANYone that *could* possibly call - and have them be VERY important calls at that.

    Just to answer your question, I can honestly say that I've never used Freenet. The passing will go un-noticed.

    Can't we get some more fun articles here? People building a bar out of an old VAX? People building beer chillers with Rocket Engines? Does it have to be all this lame-ish stuff that's been on the front page a for a few weeks now?

    I feel better with people from dozens of countries looking over code, than just a couple hundred in Redmond.

    Man, hands-down. No argument there. That's most of the reason I use and support "Linux". *ANYONE* can see what Under-The-Hood(tm).

    You are nothing but 100% right (in my eyes anyway). The main "selling point" that Open Source has to offer is the fact that it's *NOT* centralized.

    Then you wouldn't need [TAB}? INPUT and TEXTBOX are handled differently from eachother in all browsers.
