Ummm... which one? Doom 1, 2 (and 2's other versions) were all placed in large environments. Doom 3 (so far) is placed in very dark, almost catacomb areas. Drasticly different...
It's hardly magical if you're able to read the specs for the player/writer before you buy them.
I was talking about my existing collection. I have 60+ DVDs siting right behind me. My current DVD player is a couple years old. Are the new ones not able to be played by my current player?
but with Nvidia I would have to run Linux-2.6.8.1-RH923-Nvidia7, and then I might just as well run Windows.
No you don't. That's what the tarballs are for. I run Gentoo. That said, I was playing with Be for a while, and they even provided "drivers" for that, too. If you're not running Linux, Win* or OS-X, I can then assume you're running a BSD? There's drivers for that too.
Yep, you're 100% right in that part. They do, however, own how their chip works and how to get various "systems" to work 100% with it/them. That was more of the point, my understanding is.
Games?
So... when is the Linux client for Doom 3 going to be released? I bought Doom 3 the day it came out (it runs pretty well with WineX...), but, I'm waiting for the Linux version. Anyone know when it's due out?
Just use a calling card...
I have a calling card that I got through WalMart. The caller ID comes up as Denver, CO. I live in PA. This is via my cell or my land-line...
WTF is an Astonaut?
The plot and setting is right from the game.

I'd practice far more often if there was a *local* Texas Hold 'em client for Linux.
I know of none.
Any suggestions?
(I'm a Winex / Cedega subscriber, if that helps any...)
Thanx.

And how do you know you aren't just a brain in a jar being manipulated to believe you are a full human with voting rights?
or flying a simulated airplane...
G5? Watercooled? Whatever you've been smoking, I've gotta try some.
Must be the same thing Jobs is smoking.

That was / is my point, sir.
^^^^^^^^
Yep, correct. What he said.
(OK, I meant BetaMAX, but...)
most of the Blu-ray devices set to come out into the market have compatibility with DVD built in now.
Yep, MOST. Do I have one of the magical playres *AND* DVD collection that is/are compatible? Who knows...
My point still stands.
The masses will ultimately decicde who wins
VHS vs. Beta, anyone?
(oh God, here we go again...)
I get to ditch all my DVDs and the machines that can read them! W00T!
This is F'in stupid...

nVidia doesn't own all the IP in question
(emphasis mine)

SHOULD we do it?
/etc. ,BR>
Yes.
WILL they do it?
No.
~~~~~~
It's a "trade secret thing. nVidia doesn't want ATI to know what they are planing / doing so they can make their buck...
Just to help out, that's about $375 US.
Apple may take concepts that have been tried before
Like the GUI?
...so worthless if you have Windows ME.
I think you put the word "worthless" in the wrong spot in that statement...
I don't know about your machine, but my keyboard and mouse are very much tangible items...
(don't ask)
(again, don't ask)
I must, I must! I've already dispatched Mondo...
So where's the Doom 3 Linux client?
That's almost funny...
id already said that they are making a Linux "port", I was only asking when it's due out, if anyone knows.
Games?
OK, point made.
I was trying to figure out where you were going with it.
The First Amendment only gives limited protection to commercial speech
And if it's a commercially licensed business, what then? Then somehow SPAM is protected under your interpretation of the First Amendment?
Geesh. That would make Howard Stern even more right in his logic than yours (of whom I'm a listener).
Is this the time to call for a Usenet Death Penalty against the USA?
But don't we need UDP for somethings?
