  1. If you find yourself in need of access to some restricted information, just pretend you are from CBP and get them to unlock the phone/computer for you. Pretty much makes encryption worthless.

  2. I'll take the lightweight version with a 'old school' UI that only does OS tasks without the shop and telemetry thank you very much.

  6. Initially the whole point of ARM that made it so successful on the mobile platform, was simple and energy efficient architecture. Lately it seem that ARM is more about fitting as much complexity as possible into a single chip..

  7. We like to think that the world has become such nice and civilized place. But somehow we are still plagued by warlords roaming the land causing havoc and making peoples lives miserable.

Get where? Lighting some street lamps? That about the extent of usability you can expect. And even that only works because the lamps are placed locally right next to the panels. You don't get enough energy to do anything useful like melting snow, and transporting the small amount of energy you get anywhere would be insanely costly and inefficient.

  14. basically we are finally getting close to previous CRT contrast levels?

  15. Have you considered there is a reason your searches for "best text editor", "best programming color scheme" etc. result in similar looking 'low contrast' schemes. If they are so bad and people don't use them, why are they so popular then? Here is a hint. Try sitting in front of a computer reading text and coding all day, every day using a full contrast black on white editor and your brain is going to fry. For people with normal vision it is much less taxing on the eyes during long sessions using a well designed low contrast scheme designed for the task. Something like for example Obsidian or similar that you further tweak to your personal taste/sight.

I also have 128GB SD card in my phone for storage, and use the headphone jack daily. But that is another story..
