    Well, not necessarily.

It's better for Bush to lose by 100,000 votes than 150,000 votes. It's the overall state count that matters. In such a close race, every vote counts.

And it's much less suspicious looking this way.

Not saying it was fixed... just saying your logic is flawed.

Most Christians absolutely LOVE the big bang theory as it upset the long held scientific belief that the universe was forever and stats that the universe has a beginning.

You have to remember that to these morons, a "theory" isn't a well-defined scientific term... it's code to their followers (who don't understand science) that implies "this is stuff the scientists made up."

If it really affects the cost of the game that much to include the official NFL logo, then why don't they remove it. Allowing players to make their own teams would allow for some extra gameplay too.

I've had games like that... I just never had the patience to completely customize everything. I might change a few players here and there, a few jerseys, etc. Then I'd lose patience and just want to play the game.

I think the original Dynamix football game was like that.. my brother and I used to play that all the time. We'd end up just talking about the fictional players as if they were real people.

I find it intensely interesting that people will defend the warrantless search and seizure of an American citizen by the Clinton administration, yet will villify the recording of phone conversations of people who have known links to terrorist organizations.

Ames was a CIA agent. When you sign up to be a CIA agent, you give them permission to search your home any time they want. If a cop shows up at your door without a warrant, and you say "please come in and search the place," it's a legal search. It's basically the same thing when you sign up for the CIA.

And have you been keeping up with the news? The American citizens with "known links to terrorist organizations" who have been spied on without warrants, in violation of the constitution, have mostly been found to be innocent of any wrongdoing. The leads that the NSA gave to the FBI were almost all a waste of the FBI's time.

I doubt many people are encouraged to buy more new CDs because they can recoup part of the investment back on the secondary market.

  16. Re:Trespass on Sony DRM Installs a Rootkit? · · Score: 1

Most people don't like it, but I have to fall into "blame the victim mode" here. What Sony did, was not trespass. It is 100% impossible for a passive piece of media (a CD) to trespass on a computer. The computer, working as the user's agent, actively loaded and executed code from the CD.

So that explains why it's perfectly legal and justified to trick someone into loading a virus onto their computer, because if they're too stupid to know not to run it, they deserve what they get?

What we're talking about here essentially boils down to a Trojan horse program. No one expects the CD to install a rootkit when they put the CD into their computer.

Do you think the creators of a massively destructive virus would get let off the hook because they displayed a EULA that says "Whatever happens to your computer is not our fault" without mentioning the specific threat they intentionally created?
