I wish some of you folks would point me to where youre getting all this spam. Im a very litigous person and I have been trying for about 2 years to get onto a spam list that doesnt allow quick unsubscribing. I havent found a single one out of hundreds of porn sites and other high-spam-content signups.
Heh, no one will ever see my replies, ive gotten 6 troll moderations on this thread alone. They even marked my "yes, wbc rocks" reply as a troll. Time to meta-moderate:>
Hell Yeah. WBC1 was better than WC3 is, and that was 2 years ago. Now that WBC2 is out I am in heaven. Internet games arent too common unfortunately, but theres more than enough local players that I have competition at every lan party I attend. I concur about the single player being the only weak point, although the campaign in WBC1 was pretty cool.
Blizzard is actually IMPROVING the game? This sheds new light but that was only the very short list.
Where are formations and more complex reaction orders (run away being one I sorely miss)?
Try shift clicking to queue attacks. Or harvest locations. Or try doing Move-Attackmove-Patrol.
Oh, and unless theyve changed it, you can send flying units to the a high elevation point at the top edge of the map and they will disappear off the top of the screen.
Thats my take on WC3. Skip it. Unless you really enjoy single player RTS games. Blizzard generally does a kick ass job on the single player storyline. But what it all boils down to is that the multiplayer is about 2 years out of date already. Not only did they make ZERO innovations in the RTS genre, they failed to include interface and gameplay features that are becoming standards in today's RTS games. Where is my 'next idle worker' button? Or a way to queue up non-movement orders (or hell, a reliable way to queue up all the different movement orders)? A "Fully 3D" game without a movable camera, give me a break, thats just begging for units lost behind trees and off the edge of the view space.
I admit SC was a great game, but that was like 5 years ago. Blizzard thinks they can take the entire game (mechanics and all) from that long ago, stick new graphics and a new story on it (oh, and dont forget their half-assed Hero implementation), and call it the next big thing. I am just sorry that all the people out there who are deciding to buy WC3 based on how good Starcraft was wont be able to experience the last 3-4 years of RTS development until SC2 comes out 3 years from now.
PS: *IF* the scripting engine is as good as so very few of us are thinking it will be from our investigations then I'll buy the game anyways. Something that revolutionary (scripting is to triggers as triggers were to plain custom maps) can make up for a game with no evolutionary advances.
This article has some very insightful thoughts. Ive customized the SVLA and sometimes i put in the effort to actually work all its clauses into the original EULA before I send it in.
I just amend the EULAs before I agree to them. The companies never agree to the amended versions that I send them but hey, thats not my problem. They agreed to one version, I agreed to another version, neither version was agreed to by both of us. No contract.
This is a good idea! However, I think a game would work better. You would need advance knowledge of the EULA for a particular BIG game coming out. Find one with something really objectionable. Then arrange for everyone to get their pre-ordered copies as early as possible and return them at the peak shopping time that day as dozens of other customers are picking their copies up. Sure, an OS would work better, but OS releases are few and far between.
That would be illegal under copyright law. As plenty of the posts above have said, the GPL doesnt take away any rights. It GIVES you rights that you wouldnt normally have. The exact opposite of what most EULAs do.

one of the first steps to hacking this would be to get your hands on some of the ROM expansion packs. On the Go and Learning Fun would be too good choices at $10 each. The interface for connecting to the ROMs would definitely be the easiest way to connect to the toy and get info on/off of it. Someone get some software on it that can read my handwriting and ill buy one.
fortunately the freedom of information act says they (the local/state/federal govt) have to provide a copy of the proceedings for any given day for a "reasonable" amount (and it goes into what is reasonable) and the proceedings for the day that law was passed, or the day it was introduced, would contain a complete copy of the code.
Yes. You do a VERY small amount of math to see how much lossiness is acceptable at a given resolution and then send THAT MUCH of the file. If you only want half the detail of a JP2 then you only send half the file. Theres no real 'processing' involved unless you want to get into the cooler aspects of JP2 like the format supporting requests for individual portions of an image (for zooming).
To see some of the cool things that dynamic jpeg2000 serving can do go here and get this then run kdu_show and it will register the jpik:// URL type for you to use in IE then go check out the JPIK image links here which include UDP and TCP images for you to view via the jpik client. You can do it in linux and non-IE windows too but its more complicated because of not being able to natively call the JPIK client from the browser.
tried this approach, they didnt want me. its amazing what a totally remissive condition at age 10 can do to your chances of ever serving in the military. now i just laugh at them when they try to get me to enroll in the "Selective Service" (AKA Draft registration).
Its amazing how many hits a site can handle when a page with 20 kilobytes of content is actually (*GASP*) a 20KB file. Too long on the internet of 20KB of content swathed in 200KB of bloat has ruined your perspective.
Imbalanced units contribute to this problem as well. One of the hero units can summon, for no cost other than mana, treants which are more powerful than non-upgraded base melee units. He can even summon more than one at a time after he levels up again. If you know the map you can perform a treant rush with a level 2-3 hero, 3-6 treants, and 2-3 archers before *ANY* non-nightelf opponent can have more than 5 of their base unit produced, and thats assuming they devote ALL their resources to purely anti-rush base unit production which really hurts them in that they cant devote what is needed to the early game resource gathering and expansion.
Looking over the scripting engine/language in WC3 it looks like it will definitely support mods on a scale even greater than SC. WC3s script system is going to be as revolutionary as SCs trigger system was.
Some games (AOE2 or Empire Earth, forgot which, for one) actually keep track of how fast a player reacts and gives commands and show it on the scoreboard.
If Debian users are any indication then there isnt a majority for DE/WM choice. However, Gnome+Enlightenment has the plurality, so "most" people use Gnome+E.
hmm, last i checked i still get PBS here... (goes to turn his TV over to Antenna)... Yep, its still there. Just like everywhere else in the USA that I've ever lived.
sure it will. live television isnt really live anyways. im sure they can spare the processing power to squeeze out a few frames over the course of half the game and only be 30 seconds further off-live than when they started.
well, not quite direct, damn akamai

fortunately you dont need a license to use software. the person who DISTRIBUTES it needs a license to give it to you.

never heard of Windows Refund Day. when was it? i would have returned a few copies that day if i have known about it

at the last call center i worked at we were allowed to play games but NOT allowed to read books. so whats that other way to better myself?
