    The anti virus companies have made tons of money off of Microsoft insecurties.

    Now that there's a chance all those holes might go away, they will fight tooth and nail to prevent that from happening. I'm no Microsoft fan but these companies whining about Microsoft using their monopoly position to shut them out of the market, are in conflict of interest.

    Nothing new here, just buisness as usual.

    Just cause your server has no gui, doesn't mean you have to slog through iptables entries. That's what your workstation is for. Anyways, you shouldn't be on your server building things and trying stuff out you'll break something for sure that way.

    But really, regardless which technology you use are you sure you'll still be able to easily read the
    media 5,10,15 years from now? The bottom line I think, is if the data is valuable, then back it up and
    re-back it up using whichever modern media format is available at the time. What good is the media if you can't find a device to read it?

    I don't see your point. They have to maintain their lines regardless. They wouldn't lose any money on this deal anyways. I mean, all they have to do is resell the bandwidth, the ISP is the one that picks up the tab for all the end user support. Without all those front office expenses (phone support, customer relations, technicians,...), it's all gravy for them.

    Well I won't argue your point on the Academie. They would quickly become irrelevant if they weren't quick to translate popular terms and words. Over here in quebec we have l'Office de la langue français (same idea as the Academie).

    Agreed, some translations work out better than others. We've been using courriel in quebec here for years. It sounded funny at first here too, but it caught on and it's natural.

    Here's another good term that's catching on here more and more...

    SPAM == pourriel (all though l'Office is recommending polluriel)
