  1. Re:Got one, love it on Solid State Drives - Fast, Rugged, and Expensive · · Score: 0

My Thinkpad X40 died some time ago so I finally got around to buying an 8 GB Transcend SSD for just under US$ 300, this isn't actually that bad as 1.8 inch harddrives are ridiculously expensive. The harddrive worked perfectly right out of the box.

The harddisk is obviosly completely silent the only way to tell it's working is the harddisk light, unfortunately my battery is very old and doesn't hold up long, but I still get maybe 1 to 2 hours out of it with the new harddrive. I'm assuming I'm getting more battery than before.

I wrote a blog about the whole thing if you're interested. http://blog.opspin.dk/2007/09/ssd.html

I just want to describe my first experience with skype-out:

First I bought some credit, seconds later they showed up on my skype-beta running on a 15" PowerBook.

Then I called a friend on a mobile phone, and talked with him for 3 minutes, he noted the exellent sound quality.

Then I called my friend who was in USA (I'm from Denmark) and we talked for halv an hour, again exellent audio both ways. The PowerBook had a wireless connection, so I walked around the room with the biggest mobile phone I have ever had.

after both calls the saldo updated within seconds of completing the call. And it turns out, my half-hour call halv-way around the globe was cheaper then my 3 minute call with a local cellphone. ($0.59 for the half-hour call, $1.23 for the 3 minute cell-phone call)

So to sum up, I'm extremely exited about the possibilities and ease of use of this program.

    - Who says you can't "share" your drive with others?

Pirates will now have a 1Gig online-drive that they can stuff with movies+warez etc.
All hosted by google on high speed connections.

    - So now we have a 1Gig web drive, but why stop there?

With invites to one self and other "friends", you could create a fair ammount of gmail
accounts, and with not too much effort, this program could probably be hacked to
provide access to all of those gmail accounts at once.

Wupti, and google is now hosting a 100+ gig warez server..

Although a great idea, this is doomed to fail..

I go 12km to school and 12 back, with an average speed of 25km/h, when riding on a straight road, my speed is about 35km/h. This is on a top of the line (XTR-$6000 mountain-bike)

My last bike was a recumbent bike, and on that, I did 37km/h effortlessly and 42km/h with a little effort, I was able to go long distances over 50km/h and my top speed, down a quite short hill was 72km/h (I think i Broke the speedlimit there)

What I'm trying to say is, if you have less than 25km to work, buy a good bike, if you'r only going to use it to get to work fast, buy a recumbent. Also a recumbent is _much_ more comfortable to ride for long distances.

Oh and on the Tour de France the average speed is over 50km/h (I heard) it would be much more, if they were allowed to ride recumbents (but thats another story)

Well this gyu wanted to buy a new car, so he looked on Ebay.

He saw a two year old BMW for sale for $5!
Thinking it had to be a mistake but curious he called the woman selling the car and asked if she was the one selling the car? "yes it's me" she replied. The guy asked about the prize "five dollars just as i wrote" she replied he asked if there was anything wrong with the car or something, but everything was apparently perfectly ok!

So he got over to her place (she lived just nearby) and rang the door-bell. The woman opened the door, "I'm coming to buy the car" he said "sure come right this way" she told him and took him out to the garrage, and there stood a almost brand new big fat BMW "Ok and the price?" he said doubtfully, "5 bucks, just as I said in the phone" "ok here 5 bucks but can I just ask you one thing?" he asked "How come your selling this car for 5 bucks?" "well my husband left me last week with his secretary and I've jsut recieved this letter where he tells me to sell all his things and send him the money"
