Will keeping track of 200,000 signatures be a logistical nightmare. Plus I am sure it will be easily cracked by someone, and then there will be fake documents flying around, but now they will have legal status.
It might not have had the fighters there quicker. But when the first plane hit, they could have checked all incomming flight , and seen another one on the way. With a highjacker at the controls. And been able Given an earlier warning for the second tower.
I think its just not mentioned becase the download will never be a problem on this type of system.
I persume the download speed will be at least upload X 2. or x20.
Plus without download speed , you can't operate any protocol. Evan an pop3 email requires a responce, let alone streaming video. Evan if you could send it there could be no error correction...etc... without it.
The cost of this will be high. But this will mean
1) Real streaming video from anywhere in the world. No more of this videophone stuff on sky news.
2) Internet Cafe in the middle of no where. 2mb spead accross 20 computers still ain't half bad. Espically when you are 200 miles from the nearest fixed line.
3) Here is an idea , place one of these on every plane.. get it to instantly send back all "black box" information , plus a live video feed of the cockpit. Could have saved alot of lives on 9/11.
Anyway... like alot of things , it may be expensive for these now.. but give it 6 months or a year.
"What vehicles would work best for this kind of application? A converted bus? A mobile home? An 18-wheeler with a heavily customized trailer? What kind of hardware would you put in it? "
I think the main question to answer this are :
1) Budget
2) How many people will be using it
3) What sort of internet connectivit will be avaiable where the bus/van/truck is going. Will there be a phone line, if not then some type of two way satillite would be the answer.
To get a good start on saving money.
1) Make sure you use as much open source/gnu software as you can.
2) Try to get a load of out of date pc's. Most education can be done on ~133mhz. You could get quite a few computers here for $5000. Mabey 3~4 upto date systems for projects that warrent it.
If I chose to play a game, then its my right. If not, then we may as well be living under the taliban , when thing are banned because the state does not like them.
I think the only thing that will shape the (home) computer world for the next few years is weather and when cheap broadband is available for the masses.
Yep , I was in Waterford,Ireland (WIT). They didn't have any firewall back in my day , but they have installed one since, same as the one in limerick i think.
In my college it was exactly the oposite. Linux was everywhere espically amoung the computer students. And pictures of bill gates where burnt around the campus.;-)
Yes , this may be true. but i spend all day downloading ISO images on my connection i will use alot more bandwidth than the business user. Should i pay more ?
Or should i pay my MB ? or by minute.... i think either would be a step back towards modem access 10 years ago
"Another solution is to find volunteers to rewrite from scratch the concerned documents"
Nothing like the glory of writing the help files. Its the most visisble part of any program... and easier to explain to your mother than kernel hacking.
Something to try...for people who don't want to run winme/wmware.
It lets you connect to your windows box or mac from inside linux and see
and control the remote desktop. So you can have AOL client running on a
windows box inside a window under linux.
Just think about handhelds that don't need battery backup's.... and have alot more storage....
Also , if memory by this system is cheap enough, could it replace smaller hard drivers , on systems which access time is critical. Eg. Large Scale web sites , (search engines..etc..)
Hope they have this ready for the next series of big brother....
Thats becuase most CEO's of internet startups are now fired. And hoping to be temps to earn the average temp wage of $75,000.

Lets hope there is no mixup between the two sources of data.... could make it a very popular search engine...
Might make it easier to explain to the manager that it cost $100 a copy , then why its free. Managers are seem to be scared of free things.
Why does it not suprise me that was the First Post.....
Do I miss-understand , or can any produce these cd's and charge a "reasonable" free for them ?
